Can we talk about communication for a minute? Because apparently, finishing a conversation has become a lost art. 😂

One thing I've discovered from conversations with fellow bakers is that we all seem to share a similar frustration: the lack of closure when communicating with potential customers or business partners.

Here's the thing. It's perfectly okay to say no.

Maybe the price isn't right. Maybe the timing doesn't work. Maybe the location is inconvenient, or maybe you've simply decided to go in another direction. Whatever the reason, that's perfectly fine!

What's frustrating is when someone reaches out, asks questions, requests information, discusses possibilities, and then simply disappears.

P**f. Gone. Like a cookie left unattended around my husband. 😂

And this isn't just about baking. It's about basic communication and professional courtesy.

A simple "Thank you for your time, but I've decided to go another direction" is sufficient. No lengthy explanation required. No hard feelings.

I've always believed that how someone concludes a conversation says just as much about their character as how they begin one.

You don't owe anyone your business, but a little courtesy goes a long way.

So, from one small business owner speaking on behalf of quite a few frustrated bakers:

Conclude the damn conversation. 😂

While the sun is shining and the skies are clear, Bryan and Taylor are outside taking advantage of this beautiful weather, continuing the work of clearing dead trees from the property.

Meanwhile, I'm inside doing a little experimenting in the kitchen!

The holidays will be here before we know it, and I've been tossing around a few ideas for some seasonal offerings. Today's experiment is an old-fashioned apple dump cake, with a few ideas of my own to make it something special.

The photo is just a little inspiration for what I have in mind. I'm still deciding on the finishing touches, and there's plenty of testing and tasting to do before anything earns a spot on the holiday menu.

No promises just yet! Some experiments turn into menu favorites, and others become learning experiences. Either way, I get to spend the afternoon doing something I love.

Here's to a beautiful Wednesday, a productive day, and hopefully something delicious coming out of the oven! 🍎🍂

I know firsthand how much heart, hard work, and dedication it takes to run a small business, and I'm genuinely happy to see their efforts recognized.

I'm grateful for the relationship we've built and the opportunity to be a small part of what they offer our community.

This is what I had hoped for Morehead. Because we have so many talented bakers. Unfortunately this type of community-based support requires more community and less ego.

We’re the founders of Davis Culinary Commercial Kitchen and the proud owners of , Shake Co, and Series Show!

After 13 years in business, we know firsthand what it takes to start small and grow. We began baking from home, where we could only bake 12 cookies at a time. Completing large orders was difficult and time-consuming, but we kept going!

That experience is a big part of why we launched Davis Culinary to give local bakers an exclusive access to a private space, equipment, and opportunities that can help them grow.

From our signature cookies and brownies to our cheesecake trays, there's plenty to choose from, whether you're treating yourself, sharing with family, or planning something special.

Our cheesecake trays come in five delicious flavors, serve about nine, and cost $55.

A quick note about ordering: You do not have to use our online ordering app! You're always welcome to message me directly with questions or to place an order.

The app is simply another convenient option that allows you to browse our selections, see pricing, and place your order whenever it's convenient for you.

All items are made to order, with pickup available at Elliott's Pizzeria. Free local delivery; surrounding areas are also available for an additional fee based on location.

It's been a busy Monday around here, although I can't take credit for most of the hard work! 😂

Bryan and my stepson Taylor have been busy tackling some serious cleanup around the property today. Between the equipment, fallen trees, and everything else going on, there's been plenty of activity around the house.

With all that going on, I've decided to split this week's restock at Elliott's into two deliveries.

Tomorrow will be a very small restock of cheesecake jars, followed by cookies and additional cheesecakes later in the week.

Just a little adjustment to the schedule while we get things done around here.

And judging by the picture, I think Bryan and Taylor have earned themselves a few cookies! 🍪❤️

Late-night taste testing, and Houston, we have a problem. 😂

Apparently, when you have similar products in similar-looking bottles, you really need to pay attention to what you're grabbing.

Let's just say salted caramel does NOT go with everything. Unlike bacon. 🥓😂

The good news? I caught it before anything went out the door. The bad news? Elliott's restock is moving from Monday to Tuesday.

If I'm not happy with how something tastes, it's not leaving my kitchen. Even if that means doing it over.

And on that note, I'm calling it a night. 😂

Happy Sunday, friends. 🍂

This morning started with a little prayer, a little meditation, and the smell of graham cracker crumbs toasting in the oven.

Cinnamon, butter, and brown sugar fill the kitchen, a good reminder that sometimes the simplest moments feel the richest.

Fall baking has a way of making everything feel a little warmer, a little softer, and a little more grateful.

A little throwback from two years ago, and a reminder that sometimes it's the little details that make an occasion even more special.

Recently, I shared some of the cookies we prepared for the Chicago Marathon, but I wanted to remind everyone that we also offer personalized cookie packaging for special events.

Whether you're celebrating a wedding, anniversary, corporate event, or another special occasion, custom labels are a wonderful way to add a personal touch.

And while presentation is important, so is what's on the back of the package. Our individually wrapped cookies include product identification and allergen information because those details matter just as much as the pretty packaging.

These photos are from an order we completed two years ago, and they're a lovely reminder that cookies can be more than something sweet to enjoy. They can also be a thoughtful part of someone's special day.
