This RARE Black Sage Honey is now available!! We're only able to produce this beautiful and very delicious honey every 5 to 10 yrs when the San Gabriel Mountains east of L.A. get enough moisture to produce a crop. Get yours before it's gone!

Produced only once every 5-10 years when the San Gabriel Mountains east of L.A. receive enough precipitation. Lucky for you, 2023 was one of those years and it just so happens we had 64 hives in the San Gabriel Mountains when the Blacks Sage Honeyflow was happening

I was finally able to get our new bees loaded onto the new truck (Beastie) Friday evening. Then immediately drove all night to Redlands CA to drop them off for a Black Sage honey crop. May even get some Orange Blossom honey as well, so keep an eye on our page and website for those exciting additions!! From there I drove to Vegas and finally got some real sleep after being awake for 36 hrs. Arrived home last night just before snow- Hallelujah!!

Finally getting to move bees tonight!!! Treating for mites with an organic treatment now, loading just after dusk after all the foragers have returned, then an eight-hour drive south to Redlands, CA for drop off for the Sage honey crop.

Did you know?🧐 Honey bees have an unusual “winter tradition.” 🐝

While many of us got out the Christmas decor this week, worker bees are prepping their hives for the colder months. And that means kicking out the drones!

When temperatures drop and forage sources become scarce, worker bees will force all the surviving drones out of the hive to conserve resources.

Drones are male honey bees, distinguishable by their large bodies and eyes, and they serve a vital purpose! They mate with the queen, allowing the colony numbers to grow! They have no stinger and don’t do any work inside or outside the hive.

So when winter comes, the worker bees show no pity on the drones and out they go! New drones will emerge in the spring to start the cycle over once more.
