One forgotten sweet potato... and now the beginning of a future harvest. 🌱🍠
Instead of tossing this sprouted sweet potato, we're turning the sprouts (called slips) into new plants. After they grow roots in water, they'll head to the garden where they'll hopefully produce plenty of sweet potatoes this fall.
Homesteading has taught us that not everything has to go to waste. Sometimes yesterday's kitchen scrap becomes tomorrow's harvest.

The cutest part isn't that they come running.
It's knowing why they do.
We were intentional during those first 24–48 hours, spending time with them as they imprinted and learned to trust us. Now when they hear our voices, they know exactly who to follow.
Watching that trust grow has been one of the greatest joys of raising these little ducklings. 🦆❤️

For the past several days, I've been slowly infusing grass-fed tallow with carefully selected botanicals like arnica, yarrow, chamomile, nettle, horsetail, white willow bark, frankincense, ginger, and more.
Every batch is handcrafted in small quantities because I believe quality can't be rushed.
I'm so excited to introduce The Shepherd's Rub—our botanical tallow balm created with hardworking hands, tired muscles, and homestead life in mind.
I can't wait to share the finished product with you all.

Right now, one of our sheep isn't feeling well, so we've been spending a lot of extra time caring for her. That means checking on her throughout the day, giving medications and ear treatments, making sure she's eating and drinking, and watching closely for even the smallest signs of improvement.
Caring for animals isn't always easy. There are early mornings, late nights, and moments where all you can do is give them your best care and hope all will be okay.
We don't know exactly how every story will end, but we do know that these animals are worth the effort. They depend on us, and we're committed to giving them the best care we can!

We're back. ❤️
We needed a little time after losing so many of our flock to rethink and rebuild. We are choosing to keep moving forward. That's part of farm life—there's joy, there's heartbreak, and there's always another sunrise.
Thank you for sticking with us. We can't wait to share what's next here on the farm. 🌿🐑🐓

Our brave boy is doing so much better. ❤️🐓
Last night we were able to catch our rooster and get a good look at his injuries. We cleaned up his wounds, made sure he was as comfortable as possible, and are keeping a close eye on him.
Considering what he went through, we're amazed by his resilience. He's definitely missing some feathers and has a few battle scars, but he's alert, moving around, and recovering wonderfully!
We're incredibly thankful he survived!
Here's to healing, one day at a time. ❤️🐓🌱
