There was a time when I absolutely hated sewing — seriously! 😄 And my education and career had nothing to do with this world. I worked as a makeup artist and later studied law.
But somewhere along the way, I found myself drawn to traditional arts. I took courses in Pateh embroidery, leatherwork, carpet weaving, and kilim weaving, and continued until I earned my certifications.
Out of all of them, though, Pateh became something special to me. I fell in love with choosing colors, putting them together, and watching the design slowly come to life with every stitch — like these Pateh pieces I embroidered and later turned into poufs.
Now that I live on the other side of the world, I really want to introduce Pateh to people who may have never even heard of it. If I can help this beautiful art from Kerman become known and appreciated here, I’ll feel like I’ve done something meaningful — both by sharing a piece of my culture and by helping this traditional art continue to grow and thrive.
It’s funny… I used to run away from needles, and now I hope that with the very same needle, I can introduce Pateh to more people.
