Virginia is for Beef Lovers, and on June 11 the ladies of the Commonwealth brought the beef to the grill showcasing cuts many may not be familiar with. Thanks to research and promotion supported by the Beef Checkoff, cuts like flat iron and Denver steak are now popular grilling favorites instead of going straight to ground beef. āļø

The first annual Girls Who Grill in Virginia, put on by the Virginia Beef Council, brought together influencers, foodies, and registered dietitians for a hands-on beef education experience. The event featured a cuts demo showing where each cut comes from, butchery and grilling basics with equipment education, and a cattlewoman conversation with producers.

Cuts showcased included flat iron, skirt, bavette, tri-tip, picanha, chuck eye, flank, and hanger steaks, along with smoked chorizo and mild Italian beef sausages—all proudly carrying the Virginia Verified Beef label and raised from start to finish on my farm.

A special thank you to Maddy and Weber Grills for the Weber Traveler grills and grilling 101, to Tanya, owner of The Butcher, for sharing her expertise, and to the Virginia Beef Council team for making this event possible.

If you’d like to learn more about Virginia beef and find local producers in your area, visit Virginia Beef Council or Beef. It's What's For Dinner for recipes and cooking inspiration.

At Brown Cow Beef, I’m proud to raise high-quality beef and connect you with locally raised beef meant to be shared.

Eat beef, y’all! ā¤ļø
