Cedar Glade Farm
We are a family of five farming on 5+ acres in Middle Tennessee. Cedar Glade Farm was founded in 2019, when we bought a plot of land that turned out be a globally unique cedar glade ecosystem. Cool! The Tennessee Division of Natural Areas confirmed at least two glades on the property and identified several endangered plants, including the infamous Limestone Fameflower. We are currently working with state zoologists to actively survey for wildlife associated with the glades.
Cedar Glade Farm is focused on breeding Muscovy ducks and Bearded Silkie Bantams to the American Poultry Association’s Standard of Perfection. Our Muscovies are selectively bred for color, size, caruncles, and foraging ability. Muscovies do not quack like Mallard-derived duck breeds, they are calm tempered, and they make for excellent natural pest-control. Our Silkies are bred to standard with a focus on fluff and temperament, as they are handled and shown by our young children.
We are actively building infrastructure on the farm to house more poultry and larger farm animals in the future. Until then, we maintain a streamlined breeding program built upon a foundation stock of quality birds sourced from across the country.
We are also also involved in several dog sports with our two herding collies: GCH CH Southland’s Walkin’ in High Cotton CGC THDN FDC HT and Calavar Glitters Like Gold CGC FDC THDA CGC TKN HT
