Cedarglade Farms is comprised of 7+ acres across three properties: our homestead, our pasture, and our farm. Cedarglade was founded in 2019, when we bought a plot of land that turned out to be a globally unique cedar glade ecosystem. The Tennessee Division of Natural Areas confirmed at least two glades on the property and identified several enangered plants the infamous Limestone Fameflower. We ar

e currently working with state zoologists to actively survey for wildlife associated with the glades. We are focused on breeding Muscovy ducks and Bearded Silkie Bantams to the American Poultry Association and American Bantam Association's Standards of Perfection. Our Muscovies are selectively bred for color, size, caruncles and foraging ability. Muscovies do not quack like Mallard-derived duck breeds, they are calm tempered, and they make for excellent natural pest-control. Our Silkies are bred to standard with a focus on type and temperament, as they are handled and shown by our young children. While we are actively building infrastructure on the farm, we maintain a streamlined breeding program built upon a foundation flock of show winning birds from across the country. In addition to poultry, we keep a very small herd of ADGA Nigerian Dwarf goats for family dairy.

It’s the end of an era for us, and it breaks my heart. I love these dang Muscovies so much. They are the coolest backyard birds ever. But, we are moving and we cannot take them with us. 💔 These are our only birds to move. They can go as a group, or as a pair and as a trio. I will not move ducks without a drake.

NAME CHANGE! We sold the cedar glade earlier this year, so Cedarglade Farms just didn't fit any longer. We're setting up pens and working to bring back quality poultry, as we revamp and redirect here on our humble single acre homestead.

Before we know it, the sun will be hidden behind a blanket of clouds and all those shady leaves will be on the ground. My son won’t be sitting that chair nursing his mosquito bites, and I won’t be at war with all the flies. The weather will cool, the dogs will fluff up, and I will sorely miss the warmth of summer. Have a great Labor Day everyone! If you need me, I’ll be outside soaking up the that vitamin D.🌞

We are actively building infrastructure on the farm to house more poultry and larger farm animals in the future. Until then, we maintain a streamlined breeding program built upon a foundation stock of quality birds sourced from across the country.
