This is the best compliment a farmer could ever get!
One thing I have noticed, as I juggle a full time job, motherhood, daily chores, AND trying to farm and run a business, is how easy it is to prepare pasture raised meats for my little family. I love sharing recipes with folks and am always happy to talk about “the why” of what I do! 🐽
A Farmers Market Story: From Skeptic to Superfan 🐖
For the past four years, Steve has been a loyal shopper at Main Street Marketplace. He's become a familiar face in our store—especially when it comes to pork. If we're ever out of sausage or pork chops, I know I’m going to hear about it.
A couple of weeks ago, Steve stopped by during one of our Farmers Market nights. As we chatted, I suggested he try the pork chops from Wood Grove Farm. At first, he was hesitant, but after some good-natured back and forth, we walked over together, and I introduced him to Amy, the farmer and owner of Wood Grove Farm. The two of them dove into a conversation about feed, animal care, and the different cuts she offers. Eventually, Steve left with a pack of her pork chops in hand. “Tell me what you think,” I said as he pulled out of the parking lot.
The very next week, Steve was back—with another pack of Wood Grove pork chops already in hand. “Out of the 19 years I’ve been making pork chops for my wife, these were the best we’ve ever had,” he told me. I couldn’t help but smile, proud that he’d taken a chance on something new and discovered a local gem in the process.
THIS is what the farmers market is all about—connecting people to their food, introducing neighbors to the farmers who feed us, and creating moments that turn everyday shopping into something a little more meaningful!
