Things to Know: Soda Has a Story!

Ever wonder how bottled soda kept its fizz before the bottle caps we know today?

In 1870, inventor Hiram Codd patented a clever solution: a bottle with a glass marble in the neck. The pressure from the carbonation pushed the marble against a rubber seal, helping keep all those bubbles inside.

And here's the part we love: those marbles became so fascinating that children were known to break the bottles just to get them out!

Thankfully, soda bottles have come a long way since then—but there's something pretty wonderful about knowing how much ingenuity went into something as simple as keeping a drink fizzy.
