Finnie’s Farm: My Latest Adventure - The Petticoop!
Just rolled out the most fabulous creation for the Smithville Jamboree parade – my “Petticoop”! Yes, you heard that right, a petticoat-inspired chicken coop that brought all the patriotic charm to the parade. It was an absolute blast showcasing Finnie’s Farm’s unique blend of farm life and fun.

Huge thanks to my amazing friends and neighbors, Christopher, Jasmin, Kim, and Nan, for all their support! You know Finnie’s Farm is all about Creativity, Sustainability, and Ingenuity. We’re constantly building custom coops, nurturing gardens, and finding innovative ways to live the farm life here in Central Texas. This “Petticoop” is just another example of how we turn wild ideas into awesome realities. Check out the video of the parade and let me know what you think!

It's hatch day here, and just like a five-year-old on Christmas, it's that kind of child-like scientific magic. Once I hear them, I can't get back to sleep, so I've been up since 4:36 AM. Ribbit also has the same fascination since he was a wee boy. 😍🐥 (Pic of Ribbit at ~6 months with meat bird chicks)

If there's one thing I've learned about farm life in the last six years that I've been doing this, oftentimes there is more death than life. One has to somehow emotionally/mentally/spiritually process and accept the harsh reality that all sorts of things happen to crops and animals that result in catastrophic loss.

Out of love and respect for my boy, here he is pictured as a two-day old chick with his hatch mother, Clementine, and also a few months ago. I was able to save two of his glorious tail feathers as well. ❤️

😋 Around here, everyone knows when it's SNACK TIME. Miraculously, all creatures respect each other's space. It's partly due to the, "Leave it, that's for Mr. Rooster," or "Ribbit, that is Bobbie J's portion."

I once heard years ago that the family that eats together, stays together. That means an awful lot to me, as these beautiful souls are my family. We share most meals together, and I could not be more grateful for these beings. 🙏🐾🐓💗

Today I got to play Chicken Cupid 💘🐣 A customer realized I live just two houses down from where her husband works and asked if I could surprise him with chicks for Valentine’s Day.

So I walked in and said, "I’ve been sent as a chick Cupid to see if you want to get chicks for your wife.”

It was adorable. It was hilarious. And it was obvious how much they love each other. I never expected selling chicks to be part of someone’s love story — but I’m honored to be a tiny piece of it.
