Remember that beautiful patch of sweet corn we were so excited about? 🌽

Well… apparently the raccoons were excited about it too. 🦝🙄

We left town for ONE weekend a few weeks ago and came home to absolute sweet corn carnage. Those little masked criminals had DECIMATED it. Not nibbled. Not sampled. Apparently BFF was hosting an all-you-can-eat corn buffet and nobody bothered to tell us. 😂

So when life gives you lemons… or when raccoons destroy your sweet corn… you fence it off and turn the cows loose. 🐮🌽 At least somebody around here is getting to enjoy what’s left!

And just to really rub salt in the wound, we managed to find a few untouched ears hiding out there… and OF COURSE it was some of the sweetest corn we’ve ever had. 😭🌽

Just enough to let us know exactly what we missed out on. UGH.

Nothing like getting a late start on your garden because you had to DIG A WELL first. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

So here we are at the end of August with a whole bunch of watermelons still growing and me politely asking fall to stay in its lane for a little while longer. 🍉☀️

Meanwhile, this watermelon has decided gravity is merely a suggestion. 😂 Straight up and down. Just hanging out like this is totally normal.

I don’t care what direction you grow, buddy… just BE RIPE BEFORE SWEATER WEATHER. 🤣🍉

Apparently not being in the triple digits for five minutes was all it took. 😂 The hens are laying like CRAZY and our cooler is officially FULL!

Happy National Dog Day to the two girls who keep life around here interesting. 🐾💗

Bella & Minnie may not technically be on the farm payroll, but they take their jobs VERY seriously — supervising, following us everywhere, barking at absolutely nothing, and making sure no one ever has to go to the bathroom alone. 😂

They’ve been with us through all the craziness, growth and adventures, and life just wouldn’t be the same without them.

Rocket said he wasn’t done showing off yet. 😂🚀

This little dude is getting some seriously cool coloring! He’s getting darker around his eyes and has a dark stripe developing from his shoulders all the way down his back. Every time I look at him I swear there’s something new.

Still no idea what his final coloring is going to be… but I’m loving watching it happen. 🤎

And don’t worry—the little raccoon-looking tail that stole the show from day one is STILL holding strong. 😂🤍🤎

When I started dreaming up the garden at our farm, I knew I didn’t want it to just be rows of flowers. I wanted it to have a personality. Something a little country, a little over-the-top, full of flowers, sparkle and probably way too many rhinestones.

And somewhere along the way, Rhinestone Roots was born.

A huge part of the inspiration behind it has always been Dolly Parton. 🌸✨

I mean… a girl who came from humble country roots, wasn’t afraid to be a little extra, loved big, dreamed bigger and somehow made the whole world love her? That’s exactly the kind of energy I wanted tucked into this little corner of our farm.

We even named one of our fluffy Highland girls Dolly. 🐮🤍

I’ve had so many ideas for Rhinestone Roots that haven’t even made it out of my head yet. Flowers everywhere. A little sparkle. A little whimsy. A place that makes you smile when you walk through it.

Today, hearing that Dolly is gone makes the name and the vision behind it feel a whole lot more special.

So I guess we’ll just have to make it even bigger, brighter and more beautiful.

Rhinestone Roots will always have a little Dolly in it. ✨

Rest easy to the queen of country, kindness and rhinestones. We’ll keep a little sparkle going for you here on the farm. 🤍🌸✨
