Thankfully, we’re using Fly Predators, so the fly population is much smaller than it could be.

If you’ve never heard of the Fly Predators by Spalding Labs, highly recommend checking them out. They’re great for small homesteads or larger farms. You simply tell them how many animals you have, they recommend your shipment frequency, and they ship to your mailbox! From there, you spread the fly predators around your yard, homestead, or farm.

Thought this one was going broody, and she may still be, but the typical signs haven’t shown up consistently, so here’s to hoping she was just in a bad mood. 👹

As Bessie approaches calving, we’ve taken her from primarily pasture and hay feeding to adding in a custom ration formulated by and her hubby, Ben, to get our soon to be milking queen the added nutrients she needs.

Enjoy a bowl of rolled oats for breakfast? So does Bessie!

June is National Pollinator Month, and while we celebrate the honeybees and pollinators here year round, we will also celebrate 🎉 extra 🎉 as these incredible insects are recognized for the work they do!

Bees help our food to grow (consider everything we eat that depends on a bee pollinating it), support healthy ecosystems (think about other animals who feed on plants that require pollination), make our economy stronger with their naturally created products available for purchase (how much honey or bee products do you consume?), help our plants and trees reproduce (pollination required!), and help protect biodiversity, making our world more resilient and to THRIVE.

But based on others’ experiences with LGDs, we realize the mischievous behavior is always tucked away for a boring day… 🤭
