Some of my earliest and best memories take place in the kitchen with my mom- watching her at first in my early years, then helping her any way I could and then finally baking and cooking for her. I am constantly telling her that I learned from the very best in all areas of life- from how to butter and flour a baking pan to how to love unconditionally. Momma Lou, as I call her, is one of my biggest
cheerleaders and the one who first encouraged me to dream big about my passion for baking. “One day, you’ll have a bakery. Katy’s Cupcakes, you can call it!” she would say. I would smile and dream with her, ever hopeful. Fast forward about 10 years and while the name has changed, the dream is becoming more and more of a reality for me… For the moment, and with the help of my ever patient dish washing, recipe tasting and sous chef husband, Sweet Katy’s Confections is based out of my own little kitchen, where we make cakes, pies, macaroons, marshmallows (yes- homemade marshmallows!) and other treats and sweets for our customers.
