๐ฆถ THE GREAT FOOT/ANKLE UPDATE ๐ฆถ
Went back to the doctor this morning for some fresh glamour shots of the approximately 47 pounds of Home Depot hardware currently holding my leg together. ๐
GOOD NEWS: Everything looks great! ๐
Bones look good. Swelling looks really good. Scar looks really good. Apparently I am healing exactly like Iโm supposed to, which honestly feels a little off-brand for me.
I have also officially been promoted from an Ace bandage to compression socks. ๐
Doctor: โYou can start wearing compression socks.โ
Me: โOkay but do they have to be the knee-high grandma ones or can I wear the cute little ankle ones?โ
Him: โAnkle ones are fine.โ
PERFECT. Because apparently even with a bionic ankle, I still have standards. ๐
A few people have asked if eventually theyโll take all the plates/screws/hardware out.
NOPE.
Apparently that stuff lives here now. He basically said absolutely not because THAT IS WHAT IS HOLDING ME TOGETHER.
Soโฆ comforting. ๐๐๐
Iโm still in the boot for at least another THREE WEEKS. Each week Iโm allowed to gradually start putting more and more weight on it.
Obviously I heard:
โPlease create your own accelerated recovery program with absolutely no medical qualifications whatsoever.โ
So based on my calculations, I should be walking next week, power walking the week after that, and running into my next appointment in four weeks.
I feel like heโs going to be so proud.
Or furious.
Honestly, 50/50. ๐คฃ
But seriously โ everything is healing beautifully, we are moving in the right direction, and I am VERY ready to retire this boot and get back on both feet! ๐๐ฉท
