Circa 1992. A young Brian, pouring wine at the Sonnenberg Gardens tasting room — then home to Canandaigua Wine Company.

For those just joining us, Brian’s roots in wine run deep in the Finger Lakes. He got his start at a young age, making wine in the basement with his dad, a self-taught home winemaker. From there, he went on to work for Marvin Sands, pour at the Sonnenberg tasting room, Taylor Great Western and serve as a tour guide at Widmer — all while attending RIT.

Then came California. UC Davis. Winemaking & Viticulture. More than 30 years in the wine industry. 25 vintages as a winemaker.

And now, somehow, he’s back where it all started.

“I love being back in the area and showcasing my work as a winemaker to all those who live and travel to the Finger Lakes region.” — Brian

We think 1992 Brian would be pretty proud of where this journey led.

Today is the LAST day of the season to step inside The Cleveland House, Naples’ incredible 1794 home and museum at 201 N. Main Street.

Don’t miss the beautiful quilt exhibit put on by the Naples NY Historical Society while you’re there — a wonderful glimpse into Naples’ history through the art of quilting.

🍇 A little look ahead...

We’re not quite ready to rush August out the door. There’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy and we plan to savor every bit of it.

But we’ll admit… we’re getting pretty excited for the “ber” months. 🍷🍂

Here’s what’s on the horizon:

We’re celebrating the weekend with LIVE music from Levi Gangi, both Saturday and Sunday from 10:30AM–1PM.

And we’re especially excited about this collaboration…

🥧 We’re partnering with Old School Café to bring a little local flavor to the Grape Festival weekend. With each glass of wine purchased, you’ll receive a personal Concord grape tart (while supplies last)—and yes, there will be mini grape tarts available for purchase, too.

Because some traditions are worth celebrating.

Our 2024 Grüner Veltliner ‘Nellie’ is almost gone—and this lively favorite is heading into the sunset!

Full of apricot, orange peel, pear and watercress, Nellie is wonderfully quirky, refreshing and oh-so-easy to love.

We Have a Confession: We’re Kind of Obsessed with Mussels Right Now

There are some meals that look fancy, taste fancy and yet are ridiculously easy to make.

Mussels are one of them.

Lately, we’ve been a little obsessed with throwing a Dutch oven on the BBQ, adding a pile of mussels, a few simple ingredients, a splash of wine and letting the grill do the work.

And when Wegmans has mussels for $8.00 a bag? Well… that’s basically an invitation.

Our favorite part? There’s no need to get precious about it. Grab a Dutch oven, fire up the grill, open a bottle of wine and start experimenting.

And whatever you do, have a loaf of crusty sourdough bread nearby. Because that broth? You’re going to want to dunk.

You're going to want to hear this one, if you missed it last time. Mel is a Grammy-nominated Paradigm Shift member and one of the standout guitarists of his generation, having performed and recorded with artists including Al Jarreau, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Randy Brecker, Wycliffe Gordon and Joe Locke. He’s played stages and jazz festivals across the U.S., Europe and Canada, including the Blue Note in New York and Tokyo.

Meet our other kind of muscles. 😏

This version is getting a serious glow-up with curry, lemongrass, ginger, cilantro, onions, garlic and charred jalapeño for just the right kick of spice… basically everything that knows how to flirt with our 2024 Sauvignon Blanc. 🍋🌿🔥

And yes, we barbecued these beauties right in a Dutch oven. Because apparently, we like our muscles smoky, saucy, spicy, and Sauvignon Blanc-approved. 😉

The recipe is coming soon, but let us just say: it’s literally to die for.

We’re enjoying every saucy, slurpy bite on our “Saturday.” Because apparently, Saturday has no rules.
