Pretty excited that our herd sire 406m is referenced in the Boyd Breeders Cup sale. Check out some awesome heifers from McDonald Farms that are bred to him and sell September 5th!

We have some great calves out of him in his first calf crop. Come to the farm and check them out!

These pictures might not look all that interesting but to us it’s a lot of time, patience, and determination paying off.

We finally finished our 11 additional grazing paddocks for the cows, so we have been rotating pastures every 3-5 days to maximize grass intake, quality and regrowth. It’s fun to see the before cows are put on pictures (second pic), after they have been on (both pics) and the regrowth (first pic) after only a few days. We are utilizing the grass, fertilizing with the cows and repeating the cycle. We hope to let the pastures rest for 60 days before cows go back on them.

They were happy to move to a new pasture. We are averaging 4-5 days per pasture before we rotate. We plan on turning them back into each pasture a second time after a a 60 day rest period.

What a wonderfully hectic May it has been! We have been busy planting our hay, soybeans and corn crops which are all in the ground and looking good! We were able to do some custom work raking rye for a fellow farmer.

We welcomed another heifer calf LPH MORNING GLORY to the herd, we are down to one cow yet to have a calf.

We are blessed every spring to see the beauty of nature and always see a wide variety of moths around the house.

As planting is done we now shift our gears to hay harvest and constantly watching and worrying about the weather. 🤪

It’s been a whirlwind of calves being born here at the farm, we have had a few out of our old herd bull Pharaoh and quite a few out of the new herd bull Prince. To say we are pleased with the new bulls calves is an understatement, they have come unassisted, dark red, big b***d and tons of vigor! Check out the last pic of one of the smallest calves we have ever had, 45 lbs might be pushing it but momma is 13 and he is doing quite well.
