Tortas and burritos and chilaquiles at the shop this weekend. This is the torta chilanga being made.

Mijo goes to their memory palace and finds a Pyrex-inspired hand painted floral door. You twist the doorknob to visit the cafeteria when the summer’s weren’t this hot and your mom is just as beautiful and so young. You hoped you did it. You tried your best and sat real still- stayed real quiet all during service. Mama promised any sweet at the end of lunch. You grab a fistful of your mom’s sunday skirt while her fingers curl under the laminated tray to slide parallel to the hot bar. You can barely see the line. Your eyes dart to the end. You just might have a banana pudding.

Mijo dreams of Luby’s. Or just when everything was made from scritch, off the bone, and with the appropriate amount of fu***ng salt.

Menu on the last bit. We added fried spaghetti bars (we went deep into the earths mantle to mine the most pure and rare spaghetti material to make spaghetti bar ingots to bread and fry for your digesting pleasure) and the shrimp donut. Which is like the lil fried log you get with congee. You know. Youtiao, that fluffy and crispy deliciously chewy Chinese donut. It is is split and piped with a shrimp toast filling. We miss yum chaing but this is as close as we can get to a bite. Come order irl, or feel free to TEXT your order to 615-631-4180
