Start by preheating your oven to 350Β°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish, ensuring itβs ready for your batter.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth and well combined. We want all those yummy flavors to come together!
Fold in the mashed bananas gently. This will add a delicious twist to your cake, making it moist and flavorful. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly with a spatula.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center. This is the moment when your kitchen fills with the most comforting aromas. Let it cool completely on a wire rack.
While the cake cools, in a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until creamy. Then, fold in the whipped topping gently to maintain that fluffy texture.
In another bowl, whisk together the banana pudding mix and milk until it thickens. This will layer beautifully with the cream cheese mixture later.
Once the cake has cooled completely, crumble it into large pieces and layer half of the crumbled cake in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the banana pudding mix on top, followed by half of the cream cheese mixture. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, pudding, and cream cheese mixtures.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow all those flavors to meld deliciously. Just before serving, garnish with banana slices or chocolate shavings if desired!
