I cannot believe we made it to 500 followers! 𤩠thatās so incredible and I am simply blown away. thanks everyone so much for following along š„° I know a lot of yaāll are new and I am so excited youāre here! Hereās a little about us and our homestead!
My name is Victoria (or Tori) Kanouse, Iām 28 years old and married to the absolute love of my life, Brody! We got married on Valentineās Day earlier this year and life has been a whirlwind ever since of emergency surgery, illness, a laundry room renovation nightmare chalk full of termites, water damage, and snakes in the ceiling, which got us our very own Newsweek article š«Ŗ) needless to say, we have been very fortunate that I work full time from home and run a business separate from the farm as well (Beautiful Valley Candle Co.), and that Brody is employed somewhere with relatively available overtime.
We are a āblended familyā, so to speak, with 4 dogs and 2 cats between us š Youāll definitely see a LOT of Spike, our LGD on this page as heās always working so hard to keep our farm safe. He has heartworm that we are treating, so keep him in your thoughts!
We have 10 goats, about 25ish chickens (and more soon to keep up with egg demand) and some quail. We are downsizing our goat herd by just a few and are hoping to have Nigerian Dwarf X Fainting cross babies in the spring so we can hopefully have some milk producers in the future!
I have huge dreams for this place, and have ever since I moved in last April. Our biggest farm goals for 2027 are
1. Garden (veggies, flowers, herbs) so I can get further into preserving/canning, and making home grown herbal remedies.
2. A new suprise animal. 𤫠š¤
3. Processing some chickens, goats, and quail for meat to fill our freezer and sell.
4. Start a farm stand, ideally!
5. Bees. Brody loves raising bees and he didnāt get to do it this year, so Iām trying to really make it a priority for us, and then we will have honey! šÆ
6. Landscaping, which the garden will help with tremendously. But we are particularly looking for ways to cover our septic caps in a pretty way to keep them safe while still making them accessible for servicing.
7. Breeding projects! Specifically for egg color. I want pinks with speckles and DARK browns and greens. š„
I sincerely hope everyone loves following along with us as much as we love having you! Sometimes it can be hard for me to show my personality online and on video because it feels so unnatural š¤£š¤£ but I want to do more videos like egg collecting, day in the life, recipes, educational posts and videos, and more! Iād love to know what you want to see if you have preferences!
