Who knows him!?!
🚨 WE NEVER THOUGHT WE'D BE MAKING THIS POST AGAIN.
The first time donations were taken from our Halloween display, we tried to give whoever did it some grace.
We said maybe they needed that money more than the children it was intended to help. We didn't know their circumstances, and we weren't going to let one bad situation take away from all the good surrounding this display.
So we made changes.
We purchased a locking donation box and secured it to our fence.
Tonight, someone came onto our property and ripped that secured donation box right off the fence and took it.
And because we know people are going to ask, yes, we have cameras.
During the incident, the individual moved our camera, but we still have approximately three minutes of video documenting what happened.
The police have been contacted, and we are handling this through the proper channels.
We are sharing this image because we are asking for the community's help identifying the individual pictured. If you recognize this person, please do not approach or confront them. Please send us a private message or provide the information directly to the police.
This one is a little harder for us to brush off.
That box didn't contain "our" money. It contained donations that people visiting our display chose to give to Holidays on the Hill to help local children and families.
But we want to make something VERY clear:
❤️ WE ARE NOT GOING TO LET THIS STOP THE GIVING.
For now, we are simply changing how donations can be made at our outdoor display.
Our Venmo QR code will be available out front, so anyone who would like to donate while visiting can scan it and donate directly to Holidays on the Hill.
If you prefer to make a cash donation, we will absolutely still accept those directly through Holidays on the Hill. We just won't be leaving cash unattended outside for the time being.
And please don't let the actions of one person make you lose faith in what we're doing or in this community.
Because for every situation like this, we see countless acts of kindness.
People donate. People volunteer. People adopt children for Christmas. Businesses step up. Families visit our display and leave with smiles on their faces. People show up for people they've never even met.
THAT is our community. ❤️
One person's actions don't get to erase any of that.
The display stays up. 🎃
The lights stay on. ❤️
The kids can keep coming.
And the giving doesn't stop.
If you recognize the individual pictured, please reach out privately.
Please share.
