Best chicken breeds for egg-laying:

- Leghorn: Known for their exceptional egg-laying abilities, Leghorns are a favorite among commercial egg producers. They are prolific layers of large white eggs.

- Rhode Island Red: These hardy birds are excellent layers of large brown eggs and are also known for their friendly personalities.
- Australorp: This breed holds the world record for egg production, with some hens laying over 300 eggs in a year. They produce large brown eggs.

- Sussex: These chickens are dual-purpose birds, great for both meat and egg production. They lay a good number of large brown eggs.

- Plymouth Rock: Also a dual-purpose breed, Plymouth Rocks are known for their consistent egg production and friendly disposition. They lay large brown eggs.

- Ancona: These hardy birds are excellent layers of medium to large white eggs and are known for their adaptability to various climates.

- Isa Brown: A hybrid breed specifically developed for egg production, Isa Browns are prolific layers of large brown eggs.

The storm was not good to us last night…
Sandy, our small gosling, was not doing good this am. She was cold, so weak she couldn’t stand, and appeared to have been trampled. I honestly expected her to be gone when I got home from work. But the kids were ecstatic when they got home and she was doing so much better!! Goslings back together tonight. Unfortunately we did lose a few small turkeys.
