One of our favorite summer vegetables is the shish*to pepper! πŸ«‘

These small, wrinkly Japanese peppers have become a favorite in kitchens around the world and they grow beautifully right here on our farm in New Hope. Most shish*tos are mild and sweet, with the occasional pepper bringing a little extra heat.

Our favorite way to prepare them? Blistered in a hot pan. It couldn't be easier, and you can eat the whole pepper, seeds and all! No chopping required.

Simply heat a pan with a nice glug of oil, add your shish*tos, and cook over high heat for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they're blistered and browned. Season with salt.

That's it! Serve them as an easy snack, appetizer, or the perfect summer side dish.

Simple, seasonal, and deliciousβ€”the way we like it.

We've welcomed so many new faces lately, so we thought it was the perfect time to re-introduce ourselves! πŸ‘‹

Welcome to Roots to River Farm and Amara Kitchen & Tasting Room.

We're a husband-and-wife team: Malaika Spencer, the farmer, and Ian Knauer, the chef. Together, we grow beautiful organic vegetables on the farm and transform that harvest into fresh CSA shares and memorable meals at Amara Kitchen.

There are so many ways to experience the farm:
πŸ• Join us every Saturday (12–5 PM) and Wednesday (3–8 PM) for our famous brick-oven pizza, small plates, farmers market, drinks, slushies, and more.
🍽️ Gather around the table for one of our Tavolata dinners.
πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Learn something new in one of our cooking classes.
🍸 Enjoy one of our special dinners, tastings, or cocktail parties.
πŸ₯• Become part of the farm by joining our CSA.

Of course, none of this would be possible without our incredible team, the people behind the scenes who keep the farm and kitchen thriving, and the gaggle of kids who are always nearby, adding plenty of energy and joy to the mix.

Whether you've been with us for years or just found us, we're so glad you're here. Pull up a seat at our shared tables and let's share a meal together.

Join us for our next Page to Table event on Friday, August 14 at 6 PM!

This month, we're celebrating Curious Secrets of Yesterday by Namrata Patel with a cocktail party inspired by the novel. Chef Ian has created a menu of vibrant, spice-inspired bites that bring the story's flavors to life.

Meet the author, enjoy delicious food and cocktails, and spend the evening in great conversation with great food! Whether you're coming with friends, your book club, or on your own, it's the perfect way to experience a story beyond the page.
