❓ Question of the Week: When should I harvest my garlic scapes?

✅ Harvest your garlic scapes as soon as they begin to curl! We usually harvest at the end of June roughly!! And we will post on here when we start harvesting!! Snapping off the scape early helps the plant put more energy into growing a larger bulb. The easiest way to remove it is to pinch the scape where it emerges from the leaves using your thumb and first finger.

🛑 If scapes aren't removed, bulb size will suffer. The longer they stay on the plant, the more energy goes into seed production rather than bulb growth.

⬆️ Missed the curl stage? No worries—once the scapes straighten and point upward, that's your signal that garlic harvest time is near!

Scapes are fabulous in stirfrys , eggs., soups and wirh any salad or meat! Of course we think the are fantastic in our Garlic Spices!!!

Ryburn Greenhouse is OPEN!! We are ready for you to get your tomatoes, peppers, herbs, flowers and so many different garden plants and veggies!

Luke and Chad have been working since January to be ready for an amazing season! The plants are huge and ready for you!! We have a huge selection of plants to fill up your garden. I am so proud of both of them and their extreme dedication to growing plants for you!

We are open everyday all day into the end of June. Come over anytime! We have Tomatoes, peppers, herbs, garden starters like cabbage, squash, zucchini, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, beans, beets, cucumbers, basil, thyme, cilantro, leeks, kohlrabi, dill, catnip and so many beautiful flowers!! $4 each or 6 for $20 makes them $3 each! Flowers are 6 for $10 or $2 each.

Ryburn Greenhouse Vibes!! We are busy setting up for you to get your tomatoes, peppers, herbs, flowers and so many different garden plants!

Luke and Chad have been working since January to be ready for an amazing season! The plants are huge and ready for you!! I saw a flower on a giant pepper plant last night! I am so proud of both of them and their extreme dedication! We are opening this TODAY, April 25 at 8 am! And we will be open all daylight hours for about 2 months!! Do you need a last minute gift for someone? We are local and our Freeze Dried Garlic Spices might be just want you need! We have 7 different kinds and customers are LOVING them! We are from New Prague and are the The Garlic Farmers!! We wrap them for you and can pack up any combination.They are all made with our homegrown, organically grown garlic and garlic scapes right in New Prague. (Garlic Scapes are a delicacy and are the stem of the garlic with a mild garlic flavor and look like a green onion) All of the ingredients are freeze dried which means they retain their freshness because they are flash frozen-taking out the moisture and leaving the nutrients. They will taste fresh as the day we made them in years!! And BONUS- Garlic is excellent for your immune system!!

Our 7 kinds of garlic spice include:
Summer Harvest- just garlic, garlic scapes salt and pepper (most popular)
Garlic Basil- Garlic, garlic scapes, basil
Garlic Cilantro-garlic, scapes, salt and basil
Garlic Oregano-garlic, scapes, oregano and salt
Sizzling Seasoning -garlic, garlic scapes and a little spicy with cayenne and paprika
Gourmet Grilling -garlic, garlic scapes and a little sweet with cinnamon and brown sugar
Herbilious- garlic, garlic scapes, curry, onion powder and no salt.

They are all great on steak, chicken, ribs, pork, seafood, salmon, potatoes, eggs, grilled or steamed veggies, tacos, soups, salads, sandwiches and of course any Italian dish- pizza, pasta, and garlic bread. And you must try them on buttered popcorn! We have many repeat customers!!
