New Ulm was named one of the cheapest beautiful towns to live in Minnesota ā€” highlighting our Minnesota River Valley views, German heritage, historic downtown, Flandrau State Park, and locally owned businesses.

And with a June 2026 median home sale price of $251,650, we're talking about a place where beautiful surroundings and small-town living don't necessarily come with a big-city price tag.

Musik! Flags! Costumes!

The Germanic-American Day Parade returns Saturday, October 3! Watch from the routeā€”or become part of the celebration and march alongside the community.

No registration is needed. Participants should assemble at the Glockenspiel at 10:30 a.m., and the parade begins at 11 a.m.

New Ulm is easy to visit for a day.

The harder part? Fitting everything into one day.

Start downtown with the Glockenspiel and local shopping. Explore the historic murals inside Turner Hall. Wander the gardens at Schellā€™s Brewery. Then settle in for dinner without checking the clockā€”or the distance home.

Stay the night, sleep in and save Flandrau State Park, the museums and the rest of downtown for tomorrow.
