LA VENENOSA TUTSI MASPARILLO | AVAILABLE IN OUR BOTTLE SHOP

Tutsi is the name of the agave spirit made by the Wixárika people. These communities from NW Jalisco are famous for their beadwork known as Chaquira and their ancestral practice of distillation. Don Rafael’s Tutsi is made from wild foraged maguey masparillo and distilled a single time in a tree trunk. Think stone fruit, BBQ brisket, cooked plum and mint with a velvet sweet finish.

Most batches are less than 80 liters.

Coming to us from who is building a nursery to recultivate this very rare species that only exists in a small canyon in the municipality of Mascota, Jalisco. It has the widest leaves of all the agave species: a truly imposing plant. Its reproduction is exclusively sexual and takes approximately 15 years to mature, making its distribution very limited.
