MISOMARU- January : We were honored to be part of Grains of Change, a night market held inside the Gilder Center at the American Museum of Natural History.

The evening explored East Asian cultures through one essential grain—rice—bringing together food, ritual, art, science, and community in one shared space.

From cultural expressions rooted in rice to conversations around climate change and its impact on agriculture, the event invited us to reflect on how what we eat connects to how we live—and how we care for the future.

MISOMARU was grateful to join this event offering a small but meaningful taste of tradition

Happy New Year from MISOMARU!

In 2025, I had the joy of curating a series of experiential events centered around miso—
exploring its many expressions through taste, season, and shared presence.

As we step into 2026, I can’t wait to share more exciting projects with you very soon.

I also look forward to continuing to explore Japanese regional cuisine, thoughtfully reinterpreted,
and to further expand the possibilities at the intersection of Japanese fermentation, food x design.
From Kiyomi Tanigawa

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Fermentation, Yakuzen & Chakaiseki gathering at
Yakuzen 薬膳 is a Japanese approach to eating that heals through food, using botanicals

This special collaboration with .life brought together the nourishing wisdom of Yakuzen (Japanese herbal nourishment), fermentation, and tea in a multi-sensory experience curated by MISOMARU

Nearly the entire meal was lovingly prepared by .life whose deep knowledge of Yakuzen infused each dish with healing and seasonal balance.
Our gracious hosts at offered their fermented brown rice and generous hospitality, grounding the event with warmth and care.
Guests shared a joyful and enriching time—learning, tasting, and connecting through food that nourishes both body and spirit.

One of the most unique highlights?
We closed the meal with a ceremonial bowl of caffeine-free herbal matcha, a beautiful blend made from mulberry leaves, lovingly whisked by .life.
This was paired with a delicate herbal matcha ice cream, offering a gentle, plant-based finish to the experience.

Thank you for co-creating this beautiful moment with us.

More gatherings to come as we continue to explore the quiet beauty of experiences woven through Japanese fermentation, tea, and timeless tradition.

Edible installation :: I was honored to share an edible installation at “Closure and Rebirth” — a creation that transcended food, offering a moment of renewal for body and spirit.
Created from shared intention and deep friendship, this piece reflected the cycles of release and regeneration — different forms, same destination. It was a celebration of co-creation and a grounding reminder of the evolving path MISOMARU continues to shape.
Endless gratitude to Tomoe, the creative director of for holding space with such clarity and care, love and bravery.
And to the beautiful collaborators who brought this vision to life — thank you for your spirit, artistry.

My first workshop was an incredible experience! I was so grateful to see so many people join and immerse themselves in the world of miso. It was truly a joy for me as well.

I also want to express my deep gratitude to Yukari of who carefully curated the selection of miso for this workshop. Her expertise and passion of miso truly helped bring this experience to life.

Also I’m thankful for for providing delicious rice balls to our workshop.
She made amazing miso filling.
