Worth the work
We just finished installing our new Kungsfors shelving and I love it! I have so much more floor space! I might add more to it on my next trip to the lower 48.

We had to haul this shelving in a big IKEA bag, all on foot for blocks, then on an airplane, and up to Alaska.

All the trouble Alaskans go through to get IKEA shipped up. Thanks to AK Air’s club 49 program for allowing free checked bags! There’s be no way I could get all my IKEA and Trader Joe’s fixes otherwise.

Did anyone else go from loving IKEA assembly to wanting everything already built?
I used to genuinely enjoy putting IKEA furniture together. At first, it felt kind of satisfying, almost like building a giant Lego set. But now, I don't know if I'm getting older or if I've just moved too many times, but I really don't want to spend half a day staring at instructions anymore. Especially with things like TV stands or storage cabinets. Even after you finish building them, you still have to adjust the doors, and if they don't line up properly, it gets so annoying. Sometimes the furniture itself isn't even the problem. I just don't have the patience to go through the whole process anymore. Now I'm seriously considering fully assembled furniture. I'm fine with paying a little more, as long as I don't have to count screws, find tools, and question my life choices on the floor. Has anyone else gone from I like building it myself to please just send it already built? I've been looking at some fully assembled options lately, like povison. Want to ask if anyone has tried them or has other recommendations?

PS 2026 Inflatable Chair - does everyone’s squeaks?
Purchased one of these chairs, looks great, but mine squeaks when I sit on, squeaks when I move around, enough where I am considering returning them. I let some air out of the outside bladder , still squeaks. Would love to keep them , but if they squeak when you sit on them and squeak when you move at all - then I am not sure I will keep them. Very interested in other people experiences and possible hacks. Thanks.

I need ideas on how to match these floors. The black was originally white tile I want to Do the handrails and the top of the steps in a color that matches. I'm getting mixed ideas on whether or not to stain paint or don't do anything to the brown wood. The photo on the Right is AI. The left is the original..

✨ Hey ladies! ✨
I’d love to hear your honest thoughts on honey oak cabinets. I know the current trend is to paint them, but I’m a proud vintage girl at heart 💕 I really love that warm, easy, comfortable, non-fancy vintage farmhouse feel.
We have a good-sized country kitchen and I don’t want to spend the money (or energy) on painting them right now — I’d rather restore them, add fresh lacquer, and update the hardware instead. That’s already a big enough investment for me!
Am I crazy for keeping them, or are they really as “outdated” as some say? I’d love any gentle advice or ideas on how to refresh them while staying true to that cozy vintage style.
(And if you’re all about modern looks — God bless you, beautiful! Feel free to keep scrolling 😂)
I appreciate this group so much — thank you in advance for your feedback!

✨ Sharing my little door transformation with this wonderful group ✨
It felt only right to post this here because this is exactly where I found all the helpful tips that made it possible! To everyone who shares their projects and advice — thank you! Those of us who aren’t naturally good at DIY really appreciate you. 💕
I used Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black paint, lightly sanding only the scratched areas and applying 2 coats straight over the original white. Since the mullions are on the inside of the glass, I couldn’t paint them — so I tried the 1-inch peel & stick trim from Amazon that someone here recommended… and it turned out beautifully! 🙌
The sweet little rug is just $12 from Aldi, and I followed the group’s suggestion to keep the door trim and outside-facing parts white.
It was such an easy weekend project — even for a newbie like me who isn’t great at painting!
If you’re thinking about a small upgrade but feel intimidated, I hope this gives you the confidence to try. You might surprise yourself!
Drop a ❤️ if you love this look, and comment below if you’ve tried peel & stick trim before. Tag a friend who’s looking for easy budget projects!
