Dear Grudens Team,

I’m writing on behalf of the b***ylicious fisherwomen and farmers out here who work hard, lift heavy, and carry it all in the hips—while wanting to stay fully covered on the job.

Recently, while working out on the water, my trusted Grudens bibs met their limit. The back seam gave way, and my b***y escaped in spectacular fashion. A little funny, but a reminder that some of us are built different, and our gear needs to be too.

We like to keep our oysters and our booties juicy, but we also like to keep them contained. So I’m hoping you’ll consider reinforcing the seat and offering just a bit more room for those of us with a little extra power in the posterior.

Thanks for making great gear—we just want it to fit all the bodies out here doing the work.

Local red leaf lettuce and lightly grilled asparagus from Harbes Farm Stand on the North Fork, paired with creamy goat & sheep cheese marinated in Sicilian olive oil, finished with lime, cracked black pepper, and a sprinkle of our kelp spice blend.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS — Sugar Kelp Harvest!

The Mastic Beach Conservancy needs your help! Their spring sugar kelp crop is ready, and they’re looking for volunteers to join them for the first aquaculture event of the season!

WHEN:
Saturday, May 10 | 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
WHERE: 486 Riviera Drive, Mastic Beach, NY 11951

They’ll have two teams:
• Boat crew (must be comfortable on water)
• Land crew (stay dry and still make a difference!)

Requirements:
• Age 12+
• Able to lift 35 lbs
• Wear waders if you want to help in the water, or rubber boots for dry land
• Dress appropriately for the weather

After the harvest, they will head to Violet Cove to dry the kelp for future use. Big thanks to our partner Sue Wicks of Violet Cove Oyster for making this possible—these kelp lines have been growing for 6 months and they’re ready!
