Tibetan WomenEmpowerment

Tibetan WomenEmpowerment Introduction:

This is an open page inviting all Tibetan women and men from any institution, any place, and any age group to join if you are interested.

Though initiated by some women, we look forward for as many members to join this group. This group will initiate different programs on weekends or during holidays, to discuss, learn, enhance, brush up ourselves on any subjects of our interest, via Tibetan Cultural related programs, Music, Religion, Ethics & Values, Songs and Dance, Current News, Sports etc. The activities will be added with fun pr

ograms as well. Evolution:

It is a group effort during a follow up meeting of a "Leadership Workshop" on 3rd December 2010, where we discussed what we had learned so far and what we aspire to learn further. We interestingly found that though we had learned many techniques of leadership, yet we still need to develop ourselves further to make effective contributions to our community. It is a consensus of this group to build a social network to initiate different little programs catering to the needs and interest of the Tibetan community, which in hence will keep us together and our friends. Aims:

Leadership Means: Enhancing Skills, Enriching Knowledge, Developing Personality, Deepening our cultural roots, Keeping Peace and Entertaining Others. Our programs will be initiated with these aims and at the same time giving us a good time together to deepen our relationship.

Woodside, Queens, NewYork is a hub of recent immigrant settlers and what makes the neighborhood special is the diverse culture, food and tradition that we get to see. These diversities are brought especially by immigrants' small businesses thriving in the neighborhood. In our effort to support, the thriving immigrant economy in this neighborhood, we are organzing "The NYC Compliance Workshop for Small Businesses" to inform our immigrant brothers and sisters of the Key NYC Rules and Regulations a business should comply. Come hear presentations from the NYC Department of Small Business Experts - ask questions, take home resources in your own language.

Learn on key rules and regulations to avoid penalties for your business. Experts from NYC Small Business Services presents on the topic.

For both men and women.. Better be aware then sorry..

With gathering momentum, we need to recognize that sexual harassment is not just physical, but also verbal, non-verbal and visual. Sexual harassment, in any of its form, violates and dehumanizes and has to be addressed with constant effort and action. Let us make our workplaces safe! Recognize, Inform, Educate!

This is disturbing to know that people still use Gender Stereotypes to explain domestic violence.

The first and only Belarusian national hot line for domestic violence prevention celebrated its four-year anniversary in August, 2016. Since 2012 it has received 8,445 phone calls. The Belarusian non-profit “Gender Perspectives” runs the hotline from Minsk. They pioneered the much-needed service, cr...

Happy and proud to see this news on Women's SHG finally:

SHG ideas are not very favored in Tibetan organizations because of the reason that it failed in past but that doesn't mean that it will fail again. It's a much needed and beneficial program if implemented with passion and great strategy.

MUNDGOD: Women’s Empowerment Desk, Department of Home, CTA held a three-day training program on Women’s Self-Help Group (SHG) in Doeguling Tibetan settlement, Mundgod from 12 – 14 August. This program which is funded by donor SOIR-IM aims to empower the economically and socially marginalized g...
