โจ 1. If it's God's will, it's God's bill.
When I started this business, I didn't have a detailed plan, investors, or all the answers. I just had a desire to create.
What started as experimenting with desserts in my kitchen turned into a business that generated over $1,000 in its second year.
๐ I learned that when God gives you a vision, you don't have to have everything figured out before you start. Be faithful with what's in your hands and trust Him with the rest.
๐ 2. Your price is your price.
One of my biggest mistakes was charging what I thought people would pay instead of what my work was worth.
I would spend over $100 in supplies, hours shopping for the freshest strawberries, and 2+ hours creating custom orders, only to charge $20-$30.
Ironically, some customers paid me more because they saw the value before I did.
๐ If you don't value your work, don't expect others to.
๐ 3. People pay for what they want.
People will gladly pay full price to strangers every day.
So why do small business owners feel pressured to negotiate their worth?
Not every request deserves a discount. Not every opportunity is meant to be accepted.
๐ Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is:
"No. This is my price."
๐ค 4. Build a team before you need one.
Being the creator, shopper, decorator, marketer, customer service rep, and delivery driver all at once eventually caught up with me.
I loved creating, but carrying everything alone became exhausting.
๐ The hardest lesson I learned was that passion can't replace support.
Looking back, that lesson played a huge role in the hiatus that followed.
But here's what I know now:
I don't regret starting. I don't regret the mistakes. And I don't even regret the pause because sometimes God doesn't pause the vision, He pauses the person carrying it.
Thank you to everyone who supported this small business from the beginning. We're reopening with the same love, creativity, and sparkle โจ๏ธyou've always known us for, plus some exciting new treats.
