WE ARE BACK!!!

Buenas Dias Amigues! We are so pleased to finally be resuming our DDM plans after nearly 2 years of waiting.
If you were previously accepted into the DDM 2020 programming please check your email and spam inbox. There are time sensitive materials waiting for you!

All other hopeful attendees/previously waitlisted keep an eye on this space and we will be posting if/when we have availability for our 2022 program.

We can’t wait to see you back in Oaxaca next summer! Saludos!

We hope this finds you well. We have been watching with concern the events unfolding around the world regarding COVID-19, and have decided that in the interests of the health and wellbeing of all involved, we must postpone Día Del Mezcalero 2020.

Please understand that we did not make this decision lightly, but rather, out of an abundance of caution on the behalf of our attendees, our team, and our communities. Should you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected].

San Miguel Ejutla, Día Del Mezcalero 2019.

Day 4 of Día Del Mezcalero was spent in the community of Ejutla, the home of the UPADEC cooperative that produces Banhez Mezcal. The day began with breakfast and a friendly soccer match between DDM attendees and cooperative members, and culminated in a parade and cultural festival at the co-op's palenque in San Miguel Ejutla. Everyone spent the afternoon perusing local artisan vendors, sampling delicious food, tasting special mezcales brought by the maestros, enjoying live music and viewing demonstrations of traditional dances. In the early evening, an agave weigh-in was held, with the winner, an espadin belonging to Sergio Hernandez de las Salinas, coming in at 201 kilos! Attendees also lent a hand uncovering an agave roast with co-op members and some took part in the torito fireworks!

Many thanks to all who attended and celebrated with us. A very special thanks to the community of Ejutla for their gracious hospitality, the UPADEC cooperative and Banhez Mezcal Artesanal.

On day 3 of Día Del Mezcalero, our group boarded buses in Oaxaca City bound for Ejutla, the home of Unión Productores de Agropecuarios del Distrito de Ejutla de Crespo (UPADEC), the Banhez Mezcal Cooperative.

We visited the palenques of Luis Pacheco in La Noria and Apolonio "Polo" Patricio in San Agustín Amatengo, had a delicious lunch in the shade of the agave fields of Agua del Espino, and spent the afternoon planting agave babies at the UPADEC palenque in San Miguel Ejutla.

Hierve El Agua, Día Del Mezcalero 2019.

On day 2 of DDM, attendees had a choice of three day trip options: Hierve El Agua, Monte Albán, or the Mercado Tour.

That evening, after the tours, we reconvened at the Casa Antonieta rooftop for tacos by El Techo, cocktails by Aloha Oaxaca, mezcales from Banhez Mezcal and 5 Sentidos, music and dancing. A very tiki afterparty followed at Aloha Oaxaca.
