Happy 4TH! We are now is the throws of summer, long summer days and nights, family road trips and gatherings, heading out to the beach or the lake to enjoy wide open spaces. To The Grill! We go, to create and taste!
This 4th, try my Red White & Blue Burger Dog, It will set your weekend off with a true flavor bang!
RED, WHITE & BLUE BURGER
Red, White & Blue Burger
Serves 8
1 tbsp butter
8 sesame topped burger buns
8 100% grass fed beef burgers
(If vegetarian substitute with portobello mushrooms )
olive oil
2 garlic cloves
2 tblsp unsalted butter
1 Red onion and
1 Red pepper
salt/ pepper & seasonings (pick your favs?)
Gorgonzola Blue cheese slices
Pre heat grill between 375-450f
Season all sides of burgers /portobello mushrooms with salt and pepper. (pro tip: brush with garlic butter or olive oil to get some nice browning and flavor)
Add beef patties and cook until seared on both sides, about 8 minutes total for medium doneness. Remove to a plate and set aside.
Heat 1 tbls of olive oil and a clove of crushed garlic in cast iron skillet over medium-high until just smoking. Add sliced red onions and red peppers, sweet off, and follow by adding 2 tsps of unsalted butter. Cook until soft and golden.
Pro Tip: Turn heat to low and continue cooking until soft and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat.
To build a RWB Burger , fill sesame burger bun with a cooked burger patty / portobello mushroom, and top with gorgonzola slice and caramelized red onions and peppers. Enjoy!
