On International Women’s Day, convenience store of the future Foxtrot announced that it will increase its female-led brands by 50 percent over the next year. It’s kicking this off as part of its second annual “Up & Comers” awards, an initiative designed to celebrate small makers and discover the next generation of leading food and beverage brands. This year’s awards program brings a dedicated focus to finding, inspiring, nurturing, and recognizing female and femme-identifying food entrepreneurs.

The decision comes after a recent brand audit revealed that 65 percent of Foxtrot shoppers are women (70-80 percent in retail nationwide), but only 15 percent of the brands they carry are female-led — a statistic likely similar to other leading grocers.

The Up & Comers awards will bring together a powerhouse group of female culinary leaders as award judges and will provide mentorship to winners. The list includes Marguerite Zabar Mariscal (CEO, Momofuku), Christina Tosi (Founder, Milk Bar), Vanessa Pham (Founder, Omsom), and more.

American Liquor Co is exactly that: American. Founded on the belief that ‘We’re stronger when we’re together,’ American Liquor Co’s vodka is made from all four classic vodka ingredients: wheat, rye, potato, and corn. All grown in the Midwest, it’s made with the help from multiple craft distilleries in a truly collaborative process.

For the company’s Director of Sales, Cole Levy, “It’s more than a vodka — it’s about being part of the Midwestern community.”

Black entrepreneurship among women is on the rise, especially in the highly innovative, evolving beauty industry. In 2020, 93 Black women secured $1 million in investor funding compared to 38 Black women in 2018, according to digitalundivided’s ProjectDiane report.

The industry is taking notice.

In the last few years, retailers like @sephora and @macys have actively supported Black-owned businesses and brands by signing the 15 Percent Pledge created by @aurorajames that commits a minimum of 15 percent of store shelves to Black-owned businesses. @ultabeauty more than doubled the number of Black-owned brands in its stores in 2021 and plans to invest $50 million in 2022 toward diversity initiatives, including an accelerator program to support Black founders.

Bahnbrëcker means trailblazer in German. How is Bahnbrëcker living up to its name in the industry and among consumers?
Randy Rogers: As the very first Hefeweizen whiskey, we’re blazing some trails with Slow River Blend, the first Bahnbrëcker release. It’s a smooth, easy-drinking whiskey and even folks who thought whiskey wasn’t for them are finding they like it. And if launching in a pandemic isn’t trailblazing or crazy, I don’t know what is.

We caught up with Randy to learn more about this trailblazing new spirit, how history has helped shape the brand’s story, and more.

Whether you’ve tried the products or not, you’ve very likely seen Loverboy before. It may have been at your local retailer or on Bravo's wildly popular TV series "Summer House" where the colorful canned beverages are a staple on the show.

Loverboy’s sparkling hard teas and premium canned cocktails have gone from five to 150 distributors in a single year and managed to outsell Bud Light Seltzer and Corona USA Seltzer even amid a pandemic.

But what you may not know is that the brand’s seemingly overnight success story is not solely attributed to its reality TV fame, but rather how it’s being built: thoughtfully and intentionally.

Remote work flexibility? Career advancement opportunities? Here's how to keep Gen Z happy and engaged at work: https://forceb.co/3nvNHw4 #GenZ #hiring #WorkplaceTrends #NowHiring

To keep your business functioning at optimal levels, you need to hire the best talent. Today’s youngest members of the workforce are Gen Zers, born between 1995 and 2010. Currently, there 125 million full-time jobs across the U.S. Nearly half of those jobs can be done remotely. To get more clarity on what the workplace will look like after the pandemic, analytics and advisory company @gallup decided to investigate.

According to Gallup's CEO Jim Clifton, “Our over/under is 37 percent empty desks.”

How did this number come to be?

“When the pandemic wanes and something close to ‘normal’ returns, we conclude that there will be a 37 percent reduction of in-person days worked per week for those 60 million employees who can work from home. Put another way, a tall office building in a big city where all desk jobs can be done remotely — on any given week — will have 37 percent fewer desks occupied than it did that same week in 2019.”

What are your thoughts? What is the true value of the office? Link in bio to read more.

For Yasso, Inc.‘s Chief Marketing Officer Andy Judd, the pandemic meant innovating, not pivoting. Judd and his team built up the company’s digital and omnichannel capabilities and revisited their earned media approach. By doubling down on innovation, Yasso is in a hiring position again and is on track to achieve long-term success post-pandemic.

“To me, it was eye-opening because it forced us to balance our media mix in a way that we probably never would have had to do had the pandemic never taken place,” Judd said. “We learned new capabilities. We learned how to launch new products in a totally new and different way that fundamentally changed our go-to-market approach that’s not coming back. This is now the playbook.”
