Pulled calves in blizzards✅. Synched cows only to find AI day is a thunderstorm✅. Tired of it✅. About 9 months ago we began our most ambitious shed project yet, today we completed it! Picking away on it as time allowed, we now have a line of defense against Mother Nature. A true character building experience for our young apprentices.

It’s been on my list for a long time. Get of Sire. 3 head, both sexes represented. But here’s the kicker. My goal was to raise the bull that sired the calves.

The day I pushed the plunger on a straw of Bankroll three years ago in one of my best cows I remember thinking only about the heifer calf we would hopefully have in 280 some odd days. Well that time came and that cow dumped a bull on some snow covered ground on a sunny March day, Sinner’s Prayer was born.

Fast forward back to 2025, we’re beyond proud and so thankful for the people who helped make this happen. What a summer it’s been.

There’s a point in life where a dad no longer knows anything. That period starts somewhere around teenager years and ends God knows when. Fortunately for the time in between James walked into our lives. Someone who works hard and inspires. “Wyatt stick your butt in and… (I won’t finish it) can be heard often. Despite that, the number of times I’ve heard “I want to be just like James” is a little staggering. Anyway happy birthday to one of the best! (Not sure why it won’t let me tag you).

Growing up we never did the showing thing outside of county fair. In reality we still really don’t, but I remember early on hearing people talk about that world being like a family. And I feel like I’ve blinked and one grew around us over night. That family is made up of people who have watched my kids grow, people I hope they grow to be like, but most of all people that love them. Showing doesn’t make you money, it would be cheaper and easier to buy a banner, but you can’t recreate this. Thankful for the community that’s surrounded us.
