Originally from Chiang Mai, Thailand, Chef Hong Thaimee is the chef/owner of Ngam in New York City’s East Village (ranked as the Best Thai Food in NYC by The Village Voice in 2013). In 2015 she authored the cookbook “True Thai” (published by Rizzoli International) and challenged Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America in 2013. ker, and ambassador for Thai food. Chef Hong is the co-founder of Ratatouille and Co, a Westport, Connecticut-based catering company with a social purpose. In addition to pop-up events in Paris, Mexico City, and other international locations, two new restaurant concepts from Chef Hong are slated to open in New York City in 2017.

Hands down, the best bite I had in LA Thai Town. 💛
A pandan roll filled with luscious coconut cream and crowned with delicate strands of foi thong (ฝอยทอง). One bite and I was in heaven.
Fun fact: Foi thong traces its roots to the Portuguese sweet fios de ovos—literally “threads of eggs.” Centuries later, it has become a cherished part of Thai dessert culture and one of my favorite examples of how food connects worlds.
Even on my GLP-1 journey, I believe there’s room for moments like this. Wellness isn’t about deprivation; it’s about balance, mindfulness, and truly savoring the things that bring joy. I had 2 bites and it was so satisfying!!

First stop after landing in Southern California: 🍔

Drive-through culture isn’t something we’re used to, so we had to make the most of the experience!
P.S. We were seriously impressed by the healthier options too. I went with the lettuce-wrapped Double-Double, and it was delicious.
