Grouphug Solar At Grouphug Solar, we make ridiculously good looking solar panels that are easy for the average person to adopt.

Because renewable energy shouldn't be so complicated. Grouphug is a design collective that addresses the overwhelming problems that society faces. We’re a group of fiesty designers who want to create designs that make a positive impact on the world (even a tiny one). We produce an annual show during NYC Design Week around a big, relevant issue.

Hand-painted on solid bamboo frames by me. I usually prefer to keep things simple, but these frames had some slight imperfections (scratches, bumps) and were begging for some color 🥰

THIS is a solar panel! It’s a special type of organic photovoltaic film that can be made in any shape. I was shocked when I got this sample. This is a real photo with my hands, not AI :) We can imagine solar clothing, curtains, stained glass windows, car exteriors.... the future of solar looks so f*cking cool. 🔥

🌶 The future of solar is... SPICY!

New research suggests *spicy* solar panels might work more efficiently. Scientists from East China Normal University treated solar cells with capsaicin, the compound responsible for the mouth-burning heat of chili peppers.
