First off let me start by saying I know how annoying the booming, loud cannons can be (I have them in my yard and they drive me insane) but the small birds you see flying around in outrageous flocks this year are detrimental to blueberry fields. (I’ll post a picture of the thousands we have in our fields if I can catch them quick enough) Those birds swoop down and peck the berries and while they’re in the bush, they knock berries to the ground. These birds can ruin entire crops. So while the loud noises during the day can be a nuisance, they are a necessary evil to blueberry farmers. The birds are crazy this year so have a little patience with us, we turn them off before dark but yes, we may also turn them on a little before or right at daybreak. So I’ll apologize for the noise but also ask for your grace as we try to save as much of our crop as possible. 🫐🇺🇸❤️

I spy with my little eye some blue fruit on our early varieties at our southern most farm and we all know what that means. Only a short time before we start the 2026 harvest season!! 🇺🇸🫐❤️

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28

This is just another promise that God keeps reminding us of over and over again. Today, that promise is on full display. In 2017, we were going to purchase a small tract of land but it didn’t work out. Fast forward to 2024, we purchased 509 acres of timber to eventually transition to blueberries. In January of this year, Cory started looking at a couple of established blueberry farms that were put on the market for sale. Nothing felt quite right so we felt it was God just saying “not yet.” However, last month, by chance, we were told of a farm just being put on the market that happens to have been on the exact tract of land that we were going to try and purchase in 2017, that had since been transitioned to a blueberry farm. Not only was it the same tract of land, it also directly joins the 509 acres of timberland that we purchased in 2024!! Today, we finalized and signed the papers on the purchase of that farm which not only gives us immediate blueberry production but also gives us a plan to start expanding onto the 509 acres that we intended to plant in the future. This just reiterates and gives us a renewed confidence that we are following God’s plan our life. ❤️🇺🇸🫐

It’s been a long night running water to protect the blueberry crop! Lots of ice was made this morning as the temperature dropped to the mid-20’s! Praying for minimal loss to our crop and as we move forward toward harvest no to low disease pressure and manageable frost events (if any). We’ve got one more long night tonight but the temperatures shouldn’t get as low as last night and this morning. ❤️🫐🇺🇸

As we prepare for the cold snap coming through, our team is working every field — doing all we can to protect those tender blueberry blooms from damage. When you farm, you don’t wait until the frost hits to act. You prepare ahead of time. You cover, you monitor the temperatures, and you stay watchful through the night to guard what’s growing.

It makes us think about our hearts.

Just like we protect our blooms, we must prepare our hearts for the obstacles and hurdles life will bring. Trials will come. Cold seasons are inevitable. But when we stay rooted in prayer, trust in the Lord, and cover our lives with His Word, we are strengthened before the storm ever arrives.

A farmer protects his field because he believes in the harvest that’s coming. As Christians, we guard our hearts because we trust in the purpose God is growing within us.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

This Sunday, as we prepare our fields, let’s also prepare our faith. Trust Him in the cold seasons. Pray through the hard moments. Protect what God is growing in you.

And please join us in praying for all farmers — for protection over their crops, strength for their families, and peace through uncertain weather. Farming is faith lived out daily, and every harvest begins with hope.

The harvest is worth the preparation.

New field work is progressing! Barking and bedding going on, pulling drip and laying multiple miles of pipe for irrigation. Bunkhouses are almost done and ready for inspection. If you think we don’t do much in the off season, think again. It has been non stop 90 to nothing to get all of these projects to where we are today. We’ve still got lots to do before harvest season and that will be here before we know it. But we are blessed to be able to do what we do and pray that God continues leading us to be good stewards of the land. ❤️🇺🇸🫐

Christmas came a little late at Burnam Berry Farms but we are excited either way!! We just unloaded our new packing line from WECO The Science of Optical Sorting - A Duravant Company! We can’t wait to get it all set up along with our 16 head A&B scale. This will increase productivity and hopefully allow more efficient use of packinghouse employees. 🫐🇺🇸❤️

Join us in praying for our neighbors in Florida. They’ve been battling the same cold temps as us and their crops are a good bit further along. This cold is hurting our crop for sure, but it could devastate the Florida farmers and we are praying for everyone affected. ❤️🇺🇸🫐🍓

As extreme cold approaches, we turn to prayer for Florida’s farmers. 🍉🌱

For many growers with crops already in the ground, the threat of freezing temperatures and the impact that follows is very serious. These crops provide the food we eat and sustain the livelihoods God has entrusted to these hardworking growers. We lift up every farmer, across all commodities, during these challenging and freezing days. May God provide protection, strength, and peace in the days ahead.
