Saturday guided, interpretive hikes showcase the spectacular beauty of Donner Summit while learning about emigrant history, the building of the transcontinental railroad, the early Dutch Flat Donner Lake Wagon road, passing by an amazing collection of High Sierra lakes, and more! After the hike, return to Donner Ski Ranch for lunch and guest speakers. Sunday’s walking tour focuses specifically on the ill-fated Donner Party story.

Registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Truckee Literary Crawl taking place April 10–11, 2026 in downtown Truckee. The free two-day event will feature 65 speakers, authors, poets and creatives at walkable venues throughout town.

The Donner Party hikes 2023 were fantastic! Perfect weather and great hiking guides. The addition of a tent in the parking lot of Donner Ski Ranch really helped when listening to Alice & the Wonderlandz. Greg Palmer, as usual, had great information about the Stephens Townsend Murphy party of 1844.
I can't wait for next years event!
