Don't be fooled. Expensive gravity filters are not the best way to filter pond water.

1. Pre- filter the water

2. Boil or chlorinate the pre- filtered water

3. Run through your gravity carbon filter of.choice to remove chlorine and or other misc contaminates ( like pesticides etc)

Beware of misleading water test designed to trick you into expensive water systems.

There is a trend of people using Total disoved solids ( TDS) tester for drinking water and making people think healthy water is bad, so they end up buying their R.O systems and or water softeners that remove all minerals ( good and bad) from your drinking water. R.O water and water softeners taste bad and for a good reason. They are lacking in essential minerals and many R.O companies have had to add a reminerslization filters to get the water to taste good. In nature water flows through many layers of rocks, infusing the water with healthy essential minerals. We still want these, I would think!

TDS includes good minerals like calcium and magnesium.

The city monitors harmful contaminates and gets the water to a healthy level. Galactic Water filters are designed to remove chlorine, chloramines and is a broad spectrum safety net against contaminates that could still be in your water like pesticides and micro plastics etc , but were never designed to remove all healthy minerals from your drinking water.

The test below would lead one to think 1 is good and 150 is bad. No 150 proves there are still minerals in the drinking water and the water taste good. 1 says the minerals.are gone. This is misleading when thinking, safe and unsafe.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Ideal TDS:
300-500 mg/L (ppm) is considered the "sweet spot" for drinking water, offering a good balance of minerals and taste.
Good TDS:
250-300 mg/L (ppm) is also generally considered acceptable.
Low TDS:
1000 mg/L (ppm) is generally considered unsafe and may require filtration or water treatment.
Unsafe TDS:
>2000 mg/L (ppm) is not recommended for drinking, and household filters may not be able to effectively filter this level of contamination.

Depending on what level the city water is at will determine what your TDS level is after running through our filters. A healthy amount of minerals to keep the water tasting good, should remain.

Maufian stone instructions: add one teaspoons of salt and boil the mineral stones for 15 min. Rinse the stones in filtered water and place in the bottom of the water crock. Repeat these instructions every three months ( should last three years).
