I’ve been craving Sugee Almond Cake with Royal Icing for quite some time now - it’s extra special to me because it was even my wedding cake! That’s how much I love it. Last year, when I went back home, I had it again as my birthday cake, and Akshay loved it so much too (it was his first time tasting it). So when I told him I was going to make it for him this time, his eyes lit up and said, “Oh wow, Mumma, I can’t wait to eat it!” He even requested blue royal icing - and of course, he got exactly what he wanted. Craving satisfied, happy kiddo enjoyed 3 big slices and even packed some for his school lunch dessert today! ❤️❤️❤️

Happy Sunday! For those of you who knew me before I fell ill, you’ll remember how much joy I found in cooking meals and sharing them with those in need every month. The last time I was able to do this was in December 2022 - just after my diagnosis. Soon after, chemo began, and even cooking for my own family became difficult.

Today, after almost 3 years, I finally found strength to return to what my heart has always loved-cooking for the needy. My heart was full of happiness as I prepared this meal, and I pray they feel the same warmth and love in every bite that I felt while cooking for them.

This is just the beginning again - starting today, I will be cooking for them once a month, just like before. ❤️

P/s : my kiddo enjoying the same meal on the way! He loves my cooking a lot 🥰🥰

Food isn't just about filling the stomach - it's an art, a celebration of flavors, and an experience that words can barely describe.

When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and went through chemo, food became my enemy. I couldn't keep anything down, every bite tasted metallic, and I lost all sense of flavor. The only thing I could manage was jelly - plain, simple jelly. During those long months, I craved Malaysian food more than anything. I missed the comfort of home, the warmth of familiar spices, and the joy that food usually brought me.

Today, by the grace of God, I am able to enjoy those flavors again. And nothing tastes sweeter than sitting down to a plate of mee goreng with telur mata and kopi O, a reminder of home, healing, and gratitude towards god
