Skagit Valley cheesemaking class with Peachy Keen Farm is happening this Saturday, April 25th! There are still spots available for you to join us! I have also added a class to the month of May. So many people have asked for a Sunday afternoon class due to work schedules so I will be offering a class on May 31st.
I have added a minimum of 5 people in order for a class to take place. If there are fewer than 5 people signed up, the class will be canceled 24 hours in advance, and everyone will be fully refunded.

The biggest hurdle people face in making great cheese at home is sourcing great milk. Because of this, I am excited to share that I am partnering with Peachy Keen Farm for a series of classes in Skagit Valley.

Peachy Keen Farm is owned and run by Aspen Dawn. She milks beautiful Guernsey cows, and their milk is widely available in stores from Lynden to Auburn. Aspen will be joining me in class, and she loves to talk about cows and milk as much as I do.

I will be using Peachy Keen Farm milk to make an Alpine Tomme artisan cheese, and I will cover all the basic steps that you need to make most aged hard cheese in your kitchen. Let's keep old skills and traditions alive in our modern world and connect to our local community with local food.

On Saturday, I packed up all my cheesemaking supplies and drove to Stanwood for the Country Living Expo & Modern Homesteading Conference. I shortened my normal 4 hour class into a 2.5 hour class by talking fast and it was so much fun. I love meeting people who want to take on the adventure of cheesemaking.
2.5-hour
I am teaching two more classes this spring on Whidbey Island. Come join the fun!

Cheesemaking on the Homestead will be Cheesemaking in the Park this October. The park in Coupeville, WA has a covered pavilion with a kitchen, and I reserved it for October 18. We'll give it a try, hoping for a nice fall day. There are bathrooms and plenty of parking. Dress according to the weather that day. Come make cheese with me and enjoy the company of fellow cheese and homestead enthusiasts. Class size is limited. Please share this post with friends.

─ Welcome to Cheesemaking on the Homestead. 3 years ago I bought a sweet Jersey cow named Anne and I started making hard cheese. In the beginning, cheese making felt very intimidating and it was hard to learn from books. I took several courses online and kept reading, but most of all, I kept makin...

September truly feels like fall this year and summer is at an end. It has been a very busy summer here with lots of renovations and work on the farm and in all of that, there was a lot of cheese made. I cleaned and organized the cheese fridge a week ago and did some rough cheese math. I also found my current oldest cheese.

My last cheese class was the end of May but I am starting again in Oct. Watch for the class information coming next week!
