While now is a poor time for any *major* rose pruning, a few of the long, whippy canes can get trimmed back to provide a handful of rose cuttings to propagate your own stock!
The cool, rainy weather is perfect to keep them fresh until winter puts them to sleep; with any luck, next summer these will net a few new healthy rose-babies.

Presenting: the two most important pieces of fruit in the history of everything.

Alright, fine. Thats melodramatic. But still, after six years of feeding, pruning, espalier-training, and cooing-to, my two heirloom apple and pear trees each produced a single flawless fruit.

Gathering hollow sticks from various plants (mostly allium canes and hollyhock stems), trimmed and bunched with waxed cord, hung in the orchard in the hopes of harboring overwintering bees, looking for a cozy tunnel.
