We are a family and women-owned company serving the greater Bay Area & Stockton. Our mission is to create bold unique flavors from our California culture using locally sourced products and the amazing fresh produce surrounding us. We are dedicated to feeding our community nutrient-dense and delicious food.

Café 15 → → → Kinse

Café 15 got its name from where it all started: the corner of 15th & Jefferson in downtown Oakland.

We took it over in 2019, and over the years, it taught us a lot about what it means to feed people well and grow different verticals to expand our reach! Farmers market, subscription meal service, office catering, private events, and now 2(!) retail locations. More on this later ;)

The more we grew, the clearer something became: eating well was never meant to be something we figured out alone.

And honestly, what we’re talking about isn’t new or unheard of.

Our ancestors did it this way! Scratch-made. Slow-cooked. Seasonal. Sourced close to home. Made by people who know who they’re feeding.

Like eating with the fam!

Making and sharing food is intimate.

I’ve been reminded of that again and again lately, in conversations with people who deeply love to cook, nourish and serve others.

And as much joy as food brings me, I keep coming back to how much trust has been lost.

Eating well is still too confusing and too difficult. Kids are getting sick younger and younger. Communities are being left to navigate the consequences of chronic disease.

For me, this next chapter is about rebuilding trust and breaking generational cycles around food. Reclaiming some of what we’ve lost, while creating new food journeys we can pass forward.

Because if we don’t shift food, we’re fighting an uphill battle in so many other arenas.

Some meals look simple until you take a bite and realize how much intention went into every ingredient.

This is one of those meals (another classic family recipe).

Built with thoughtfully sourced ingredients and prepared from scratch, every element is there for a reason. The result is a plate that feels balanced, satisfying, and nourishing without relying on shortcuts.

That's what real food should do. It should support your body, keep you going, and leave you feeling better after the meal than before it.

You know how many times we get "I've never had tofu like that". If you really think tofu can't be satisfying, then maybe you just haven't had it done right.

Real nutrition starts with thoughtfully prepared ingredients, and our Miso Tofu Sandwich is a perfect example.

We layer organic Hodo tofu with a rich miso tahini sauce, pickled red onions, and fresh arugula on an Acme bun to create a sandwich that's balanced, savory, and genuinely satisfying. Nothing is there by accident. Every ingredient has a purpose.

Most people drink coffee on autopilot. I think you'll want to slow up for this coffee.

At Café 15, intention goes into everything we serve. Including your morning cup roasted locally here in Oakland.

Our coffee is both roasted (thanks Café Santana) and brewed to highlight the natural character of the beans: balanced, smooth, and free from unnecessary extras. It's a simple reminder that quality starts with thoughtful ingredients and careful preparation. Small choices, made consistently, can make a meaningful difference.

For the past seven years, Café 15 has been working to make scratch-made, nourishing food more accessible to our community. We believe eating well shouldn’t be reserved for people with extra time, money, or energy—it should be part of everyday life.

As we enter our next chapter, we’re continuing to build systems and bring our food into new spaces where people work, move, gather, and build healthier lives together. Our eggplant is grilled until perfectly tender with just the right bite, then layered with fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and our house-made sunflower pesto on an Acme sweet deli roll. Most people think of a Buddha Bowl as just a healthy lunch. Want to hear a true story? An organization providing lead-exposure education ordered our Buddha Bowl buffet for their community event because the ingredients aligned almost perfectly with what they were teaching.

Quinoa. Edamame. Tahini. Colorful vegetables.

Foods rich in nutrients like iron, calcium, and vitamin C are often recommended as part of a healthy diet that supports families living in areas where lead exposure is a concern.

We didn't design this bowl with that specific purpose in mind. We created it because we believe nourishing food should be delicious, satisfying, and accessible.

But moments like this remind us that food does more than fill people up. It can support learning, health, and community care all at the same table.

Our Buddha Bowl features quinoa, roasted Japanese sweet potato, seasonal vegetables, edamame, and our house tahini miso dressing.

Food as care. That's always been the goal.
