Lots of math and trial and error….surprisingly not too many bad words. I learned that my miter saw is out of square and the blade is deflecting bc it’s time for a new one. Instead of fixing the miter saw, I used it to cut wedges to use on my table saw sled bc this morning I felt invincible. The impossible became possible after more time than I care to admit but this is the same wood from the trash pile I was given a few weeks back. On the bright side, I drove myself crazy this morning for free and this was the hardest thing I have ever built to date.

Lesson: keep your blades sharp and your saws square!

Handmade Christmas Tree shelf. These trees are adorable! 32 inches tall and 20 inches wide at its widest section. I am making these trees in White, Black, dark stain (as shown), clear pine. Comes with 3 small gold hooks. The tree shelf can hang on the wall or sit on its own. Great as a teacher gift, corporate gift, home or office decoration, or the perfect gift for the person that has everything.

Custom orders include additional height and width, more hooks, upgraded hooks, custom colors for additional cost. Small block decorations to come also to help decorate these shelves.

I have worked on the side as a carpenter for about 10 years now. I graduated from college with a teaching degree, taught for a year before staying home to raise our 4 babies. I learned from my dad, father-in-law, a great neighbor with an awesome shop and many other brilliant tradesman that were willing to help me keep learning.

On our job sites, we’ve pushed for greater diversity on our crew, and are even bringing in new tradespeople to work as apprentices. It’s on all of us who are currently in the trades to help create space for the next generation of tradespeople to take up the mantel.

There’s this idea about the trades that they’re a fallback career, or something you do if you’re not able to go to college. That could not be further from the truth.

It’s important to remember that while the trades offer an incredible career path – they are also a lot of work. It takes a lot of technical skill and know-how to be able to build things (or style hair, bake, or fix cars) – it’s not something you’ll learn on a whim.

The trades require a set of essential skills that we use every day. Math skills, communications skills, it’s a lot more than simply swinging a hammer.

This bench needed some TLC. Bite marks and chipping paint on this solid piece took a little time to repair but it was time well spent.

This table was well built but had been stored where the Florida heat and humidity could start to break down the paint. I sanded it down completely and gave it a new look.

This is a custom barn door that I made for an office in a home remodel by Boutwell Construction. One side is the pretty side of the closet and the other hides the things you don’t want anyone to see.

I make my doors using 3/4 inch tongue and groove planks. This works well for laundry rooms as well. I make it and you install.

Puppy 🐶 approved 👍 ! This baby’s momma wanted a night stand with space for a dog bed below AND it needed to fit in with her trim profile and paint color. I love custom pieces. It looks like I am not the only one 🐶 ❤️!
