Happy World Bee Day! 🐝🌎

Today is a reminder of just how important bees are to our world. Bees help pollinate the plants that grow our food, support wildlife, and keep ecosystems thriving. Even the smallest actions, such as planting flowers, avoiding harmful pesticides, or supporting local beekeepers, can help protect these amazing pollinators for future generations. 💛🍯

Good morning! I just finished my weekly hive inspection, and WOW! My wild hive is absolutely exploding. They already have capped brood in the top box, so I’m about to add a honey super. I even got to watch a bee emerge from her cell. I’ve seen videos before, but witnessing one of my bees being born in real life was a site to behold.
I got a great picture of a drone, and yes, lots of drone brood too. I’m so happy, and best of all, no swarm cells‼️
My store-bought colony is growing too, just a bit more slowly. There is more capped brood, and they’re expanding nicely. No drone cells, and the queen has a solid laying pattern. I added a feeder box and a pollen patty in a jar feeder, and within a week they devoured the feeder and a good chunk of the pollen patty.
All pictures are from the wild hive 🐝

🚨HIVE UPDATE!!!!🚨
Good morning everyone!!💛
Did my weekly hive inspection and WOW… my wild hive is absolutely busting at the seams! I’m about two seconds away from adding another honey super because these overachievers clearly didn’t get the memo to relax 😅 No swarm cells, no supersedure cells-just pure chaos and productivity.
And guess what… I spotted my very first drone! Only one, but hey, we all start somewhere. I’m irrationally proud of him 😂
Meanwhile, my store-bought hive is still acting like it’s January… slow, sleepy, and not in a rush for anything. They are growing, just at their own “we’ll get there eventually” pace. I added a pollen patty, so fingers crossed that gives them a little motivational boost 🤞
Also put up a swarm trap, and within HOURS I had bees checking it out 👀🏡 Now I’m just waiting and hoping some new tenants decide to move in soon!
Beekeeping: equal parts patience, excitement, and “what are y’all doing today?!” 🤣

One thing I love about beekeeping is that there’s always something to learn. Even techniques from decades or centuries ago can still work today. Traditional beekeeping has been practiced for thousands of years using simple tools and techniques. Sharing this video because it’s a great reminder that beekeeping knowledge has been evolving for a very long time.

Good afternoon, everyone! ☀️🐝
Today I did my very first hive inspection of the season, and I couldn’t be prouder of my bees! 💛
My main hive was a little spicy at first 😅, but settled down nicely. They’ve got plenty of honey stored, and the brood pattern looks beautiful; full of healthy eggs and larvae. Even better, I found both queens. They are fat, thriving, and absolutely sassy 👑✨
Days like this make all the hard work worth it. Now I just wish I had more hives to inspect! 😂💖

Bees in winter are basically in “Do Not Disturb” mode, tiny fuzzy introverts living off snacks and vibes. 🍯 💤

Help them nap now so they can pollinate your entire personality in spring 🌼✨

Here are some does and don’t on some ways you can help a bee in need!💛🐝

Tiny Overachiever Timeline aka
Life Cycle Of A Bee
🥚 Egg – Freshly laid. No responsibilities. Living the dream.
🐛 Larva – Eats nonstop. Basically a very hungry gummy worm with career potential.
🛌 Pupa – In a cozy little wax room going through a full glow-up. No interruptions, please.
🐝 Adult Bee – Wakes up and immediately gets assigned 47 jobs:
Florist 🌸
Chef 🍯
Construction worker 🏗️
Security guard 🚨
Pilot ✈️
Professional dancer (waggle edition) 💃
All that… and still finds time to make honey.
Meanwhile I need a 3-hour nap after answering one email.
