Last night, the big Leopard tortoise (S. pardalis) female started digging again. She dug, and dug, and dug, and dug some more. 🀣. Since I had to get up at 4am to ship birds I could not stay up to wait for the eggs to finally drop. Today, I found the big mound of sand and dug them out- all 20 of them! Her biggest clutch so far, 27 days after her last one- right on schedule. As I was pulling them out, the small female came over to check me out. Either she has not laid yet this year or she is much, much better at hiding her nesting activity!

This little guy is flying out to a new facility in Louisiana this morning! He will be joined by a female that should be ready to go in just a few more weeks. 😁 It’s always great to see them go to exciting, new places!
