Weโ€™ve been wanting to add a bacon we felt really good about carrying, and the more we learned about Beelerโ€™s, the more it felt like a great fit for the market.

Beelerโ€™s is a sixth generation family business with roots in Iowa dating back to 1846. That history, along with the care they put into how their pork is raised and what goes into their products, is a big part of what stood out to us.

Their Hickory Smoked Uncured Bacon is made with humanely raised Heritage Duroc pork and a short, simple ingredient list with just pork, water, sea salt, turbinado sugar and celery powder.

A few other things that stood out to us:

โ€ข No antibiotics ever
โ€ข No gestation crates
โ€ข Vegetarian fed
โ€ข Casein and gluten free

Weโ€™re always looking for familiar everyday products that have a little more thought and care behind them, and this is a great example of that.

We know many of you have been patiently waiting for an update on the kitchen, and we truly appreciate your patience and continued support.

We also know this has taken a little longer than we originally hoped. Weโ€™ve had some promising conversations and explored a number of different ideas along the way, but we want to make sure we get this part of Samโ€™s right.

For us, itโ€™s about more than simply filling the space. We want to find the right food concept and the right partner. Something with great food, quality ingredients, fair and approachable pricing, and the potential to become a neighborhood staple that people are genuinely excited to have here in Oldsmar.

Many of you have shared ideas with us along the way, especially for a great sub shop or deli, and weโ€™ve been listening.

As we continue the search, weโ€™d love your help. If thereโ€™s a local restaurant, food truck, chef, caterer or food business you love and think could be a great fit for a brick and mortar location inside Samโ€™s, please send them our way or share this post with them.

Weโ€™ve got four new additions in the market this week, and each one stood out to us for a different reason. Theyโ€™re familiar everyday foods, but made with a little more care, better ingredients and the kind of quality we look for when bringing something new in.

These arenโ€™t your typical hot dogs. Hippeyโ€™s comes from Denver Meat Company in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with a long tradition of smoked meats. Their all-beef franks are made with premium cuts of beef, no fillers or MSG, and hardwood smoked over real hickory. Six large franks in every one-pound package.

Godshallโ€™s has specialized in smoked meats since 1945. Their beef bacon is naturally smoked over real wood, contains no MSG, is gluten-free, and cooks up crisp with that familiar smoky bacon flavor. A great option for anyone looking for something different from traditional bacon.

Goodness makes their food locally in St. Petersburg using real, recognizable ingredients, with no seed oils or preservatives. Their menu changes regularly, giving us a chance to bring in a little variety from week to week.

We just received a fresh delivery from Dakin Dairy Farms.

If you missed our previous posts, Dakin is a local, family-owned dairy farm in Myakka City, just outside of Sarasota. Their cows receive fresh grass year-round, and the entire process, from milking to bottling, takes place right there on their Manatee County farm.

Dakin also puts a strong focus on cow health and sustainable farming. They grow their own grass on the farm, use practices that eliminate the need for pesticides, and produce their dairy products without antibiotics or added growth hormones.
