Day 9 - Tansforming Neglected Areas on our Farm!! This is the pt 2/2 on the sad pond makeover, we were able to get it finished today. If you are interested in some Iris, leave a comment in the comment section if you are in the Olympia WA area and want to pick some up! Also, be sure to let me know what our next project should be, I’m thinking livestock related so chicken coop or barn potentially. I think this turned out wonderful, so let me know if you liked the before and after at the end!

Day 8 - Transforming Neglected Areas on our Farm! Let’s tackle the sad pond, this going to be 2 parts because I ran out of rocks and I’m too lazy to go get more today 😭😂 Mostly we handled a lot of sludge clean out and then plant trimming. It’s so much lighter than before in these spots! Leave my tips on how to prune these plants if you know what they are haha

UPDATE ON THE COBBLESTONE PATIO POUR! 5 days in, here is how we are holding up!

What would I change?
1. Scalp the grass first
2. Lay down chicken wire/mesh to act more as a “rebar support” or surface for the concrete to grab to, maybe not 100% necessary but I think it would help with the long term lifespan
3. Use more concrete than originally expected
4. Spend a little more time to pick out the rocks I liked
5. Wire brush the “after” to bring back the color on the stones

Overall I would do this again! I’ll do another update on it next year to see how it holds up an entire years worth of elements/use. I’m finishing up the decor for this spot and should have the final video for this area out tomorrow. Then we are on to the next spot in the yard!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday! I’ll have the next video posted tomorrow 💙 We’ll also do an update on how the concrete is holding up a few days in along with some info on what I would do differently if I were to do it all over again 🌺

Here are the evening pics for how the lights turned out, absolutely beautiful! I cannot wait to finish this area and get some seating here 😁 Bless you all and have a fantastic Sunday 💙💙💙

Day 4 - I love the progress we made today! We got the string lights hung, which took way longer than I expected, then filled in that corner that everybody’s been asking about as well. Hopefully we can get the pump working. The birdhouse is with the flowers on the fence are super cute! Let me know your thoughts on the flowers if there’s too many. Next video will probably be the last for this area. We still need to add the flower boxes, the window box some pots, hummingbird feeder, a bird feeder and some seating. Last chance for some ideas for this area if you have some suggestions on how to make it better!

Making the birdhouses was a blast! The kids really enjoyed painting them and did an excellent job - just gotta finish up the holes and they are ready for our spot in the yard 😁 They aren’t super fancy, but we made some great memories while building them. Highly recommend this easy DIY for the family! Let me know if anybody wants the plans, they are the one-board plans from Lowe’s and took about 10 minutes to build. I’m definitely thinking I need to seal them with something though before they go outdoors 😅

Day 3 - transforming neglected spots on our farm. I’m sure I’m gonna get a lot of heat for this, but I decided to pour cement over top the rocks. Yes I know it was probably a bad idea. This is not a DIY video. This is not an instructional video. This is us just having fun haha. I’ll have to do an update video later on to show how it holds up overtime. Considering that this area was unusable before I don’t think that this is going too shabby. I’ve got lots of decorations made that I’m getting ready for the next video. It’s coming along nice and it’s more of a spot. We are enjoying seeing versus the overgrowth.

Day 2 - Transforming neglected spots on our farm! We are back at it again still working on the area between the barn and shed. I felt extra ambitious so we got 3 big things done. We washed the barn, painted the window and layed down the base for a cobblestone patio. I already know that the cobblestone patio may be a terrible idea, I AM expecting cracking (I have a plan for that later) and I’m sure it won’t last forever but it was $20! Our budget for each spot is $50 so we are doing pretty good so far. Ideas I’m moving with are: string/fairy lights, window flower box, wind chimes, birdhouses, water feature, bench, flower pots/beds and painting some flowers on the fence. Keep throwing ideas in the comment section for me! I appreciate all the suggestions greatly ❤️ God bless!
