We have the first official snap peas of the season 🎊🌿

Can you spot them? They're so good at hiding...

I had to remind myself the other day that it's only June, early June at that!

This weather has been so interesting this year. But the warm weather the past couple weeks has resulted in an explosion of plant growth. Sometimes, I can see a big difference from one day to the next.

What plant do you get most excited about when you see the first fruit, vegetable or flower growing?

🌧️It's sometimes comical how our (or at least my) view about rain can change so easily and fluidly!☔

This morning, I found myself excited once again that the rain is blessing us and helping to strengthen the garden 🧑‍🌾🌱and yet this is not always how I feel...

In the fall, my despise for the rain begins to build, mid-way through winter, I've usually had it with the rain.

Even though I know the rain is so needed in fall and winter, to ensure the ground is saturated enough that we don't go into a drought during the warmer months...the lack of blue sky and warmth on top of the rain is often so difficult for me during this season.

And then suddenly, spring begins and I'm absolutely elated when it begins to rain because...

Rain helps produce amazing harvests like this and cuts down on the time we have to spend watering and it provides the water so many things, including the bees, need during the warmer weather!

Is it a selfish reason? Maybe... 🤔

I will admit that over the past several years that we've been building our farm and homestead, I've come to appreciate the fall and winter rains more, knowing how necessary they are for spring growth and summer harvest.

Who else finds themselves feeling this way about rain in fall and winter?

As you enjoy today's activities, we hope you'll take a moment to reflect on those who have made it possible!

As a Veteran family, we know the sacrifices those in our armed forces and their families make every day. We're thankful for those who have selflessly given the ultimate sacrifice to make our freedom and rights possible.

☕💜 Heaven in a Cup 💜☕
Ever had a sip of something so soothing, so fragrant, so downright heavenly that it stopped you in your tracks?

A few years ago, as I stood in line at one of my favorite coffee shops with every intention of ordering my usual oat milk latte with honey, my eyes caught the beautiful writing on the specials board with the words “Lavender London Fog” written on it. I tried it and I never forgot that firs sip—and now I’ve recreated it right here on the homestead, using our own fresh lavender. 🌿✨

I’m sharing the story, the memories, and the full recipe on the blog today.

It's easier than you think to make this cozy café favorite at home—and it’s pure comfort in a mug.

➡️ Pop over to the blog and let me know: Have you ever tried a Lavender London Fog? Would you make one at home?

💬 I’d love to hear your thoughts (or see your mugs)!

I'm sure there is a reason for every living thing, including pests, on this earth. Afterall, why would God put them here if they didn't have a purpose? Though there are times when I'm convinced the pests have decided that whatever their original purpose was, their current purpose is to ruin all the....

The tick's are alive and well this summer and we're getting prepared for a season full of hiking, camping and fun in the wilderness with an all-natural tick repellent!

Oh how I love nature and the way it provides for us!

https://hecoxfamilyfarm.com/2025/04/25/tick-season-is-here/

Here in the Pacific Northwest, the weather has slowly (or not so slowly some days) been getting warmer. The sun is out, the birds are singing and everything is beginning to bloom and grow...including the ticks! We heard a couple weeks ago that ticks were beginning to surface, a sign that it's likely...
