Our second night in London, before we went to see The Book of Mormon, we went to FALLOW

It was divine. We sat on the patio and the weather was beautiful, plus gave us great light for photos! ⭐️ here is what we ate:

- Epping: Benromach 10 year, cider, brandy, walnut wine, shiitake, green apple, hazelnut maple

- Rhubarb & Custard Spritz: gin, rhubarb, yogurt, vanilla

- Midsummer Berry (NA): Everleaf Forest Feragaia, Strawberry and Vanilla, sparkling NA Cabernet

- Dragon Punch (NA): dragonwell tea, apricot, mint, black pepper

- sourdough with butter

- Smoked Leek Caesar Salad: anchovy dressing, bacon, croutons

- Corn Ribs with Kombu seasoning

- Burrata: spiced pumpkin acar, crispy seaweed

- Potato Waffle: cheese sauce, quail egg, blood Mary ketchup

- Smoked Bacon Burger: cheese, onion, lettuce, choucroute

- Venison Haunch: beef fat chimichurri, pickled peppers, red wine sauce

- Tandoori Cauliflower

We didn’t have time for dessert, as we had to get to the show, but everything was delicious and we highly recommend trying out Fallow!

We ate Bubala our first night in England, and it was amazing! Started with an Orange Blossom Spritz: triple sec, orange blossom and prosecco. Jay had a Sour Cherry Negroni with gin, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, select aperitivo and sour cherry.

We ate a pickle plate, Laffa flatbread, and peach & green tomato Ezme to start. Our mains were the Falafel and Confit Potato Latkes.

Make sure to add this one to your list. It’s a vegetarian restaurant with vegan options, and we enjoyed it so much!

Last weekend we had the privilege of eating at Indígena by Owamni in Minneapolis.

We were there for a college visit with our oldest, and couldn’t wait to try the food at Indígena. All the dishes use ingredients that were only available before colonization, using and highlighting products indigenous to the Americas. But, if you think that limits the flavors or wide variety of items we tried you would be wrong.

The first cocktail was War Pony: fat-washed bourbon, maple, chocolate, berry

Then Hand Harvested Wild Rice with dried berries and puffed wild rice.

Crickets and popcorn was next with roasted crickets, candied seeds, and maple sumac popcorn

Duck Fat Mush was next with duck tinga, corn & venison salad,
cedar braised mushrooms.

I had the Stoodis with chile-infused tequila, pineapple, and soda.

Our oldest had the ma’iingan aperitivo shrub, and soda. It was too dry for him, so I finished that too!

We then tried the Sweet Potato Gnocchi with duck fat, hazelnuts, and salsa macha.

Then we shared the Skirt Steak + Fingerling Potatoes with foraged herb chimichurri

The Scallops were a hit for me with papaya jam and spoonbread

The youngest finished off with dessert, the rest of us were too full. It was a dark chocolate oat pudding with a tortilla and I think puffed rice? I tried a bite (that was all I had room for, and it was delicious)!

If you are in Minneapolis add Indigena to your list of must visit restaurants. There is so much more on the menu I wish we would have tried. Not pictured is the mustard green salad that was HUGE and we couldn’t finish it between 4 of us.

It’s Burns Night, named in honor of the Scottish Poet, Robert Burns. We are having a wee dram to honor his words and his life.

We haven’t been silent on current events, we have just been quiet on here because my (Leah’s) mom died in October, and have been dealing with all of the things that happen with that. We have missed you.

But, we want to say that if you still agree with what this administration is doing in this country, you side with ICE and are ok with what they are doing to people and the loss of life from our own government, you can get off our page. No need to announce your departure, you can go quietly into the night. It’s not political, we have a moral difference and we don’t need your support.

In the words of Robert Burns himself, in his Bannockburn poem:
“By Oppression’s woes and pains!
By your sons in servile chains!
We will drain our dearest veins,
But they shall be free!

“Lay the proud usurpers low!
Tyrants fall in every foe!
Liberty’s in every blow!
Let us do or die!”
