If you buy RC's California Ice, you not only get to experience a wonderfully fresh, cool dessert, but you encourage the spirit of entreprenuership in a teen.
Ryan, co owner of RC's California Ice wanted to bring a little joy to people during the hot Covid months of 2020 and hand delivered, and set up pop ups near his home. Early on, the product was very different, basically sugar and water, more like a snow cone. (no shade to a snow cone . . .) but we wanted to make them with real fruit and found that fruit puree, actually created a creamy texture similar to ice cream but still with no dairy.
He and his dad researched the best way to produce efficiently, purchased the first real California Ice machine, marketing materials, tried lots of different fruit purees, created logos, crunched numbers, learned about budgeting and profit and loss, opened a business bank account, worked a farmers market, provided treats for professional luncheons, spent a lot of money, and made a profit that went directly back into the business.
It's been amazing for our family to be able to work together. Everyone has a role, and are proud of the product! It is pretty darn fabulous and tastes like frozen fruit.
